Dolly & Dotty are a fairly new vintage style clothing company, based out of Brighton in the UK and offering a selection of budget-friendly retro style pieces in UK sizes 6-24. I first found them a few months back when I came across the two dresses below and fell in love.

At the time both dresses were out of stock, so I inwardly whimpered a bit, tried to find them in stock anywhere else, failed, inwardly whimpered some more, then gave up. It wasn’t until Dolly & Dotty and I were in contact recently that I remembered the dresses that had escaped me, and I was thrilled to find that the Poppy dress, at least, was back in stock in my size.

I was so pleased to get my hands on this dress after wanting it for ages. I am a huge fan of red, white and blue, especially when paired together, so this striped number makes for a fun nautical piece heading into summer, but doesn’t feel so summer-specific that you have to forego wearing it year round.
It closes with a size zipper but the buttons are real and workable. It’s got a swing skirt, which isn’t a full circle but it can still fit a slim petticoat. As I’m 5 ft 7, the 25inch skirt hits me just below the knee. It’s unlined so it’s a perfect lightweight piece for summer, easy to wear alone or to throw a little cardigan over if you need a touch more coverage. I requested this dress in a size 16, which is for 34-36inch waists according to their size chart. I flat measured the waist to 35 inches, which makes their size chart accurate as there’s some stretch in the piece as well. It comes with a fabric notch belt and is available in 8 prints in total, including checks, florals and another striped colourblocked colourway, all of which only cost £29.99.
The fact that these dresses are so affordable means they make for great starter pieces for new pinups looking to grow their wardrobe, as well as wonderful day pieces for anyone working within a strict budget. Personally, as a pinup who has a lot of more expensive pieces in her wardrobe, I like having a selection of more budget-friendly dresses to wear when I spend time travelling for long distances, for days spent around kids, or for days when I need to be totally comfortable but don’t want to completely surrender my style. It also helps that Dolly & Dotty offer free delivery on orders over £50 and ship internationally.

My favorite dress was the hyacinth classic 50s flair dress in purple! The silhouette is AMAZING and I’m shocked by how affordable it is…might buy this baby regardless of a contest win. 🙂

I love the Poppy Vintage Shirt Swing Dress in Light Pink. I think the floral pattern is stunning and I’ve always loved dresses like these but never been able to afford them. I feel like I would be my best self in this dress and learn to love my body as it is and maybe even improve myself and become more confident. I just love this dress.

I like the sunny yellow dress. I have struggled recently in my life trying to stay upbeat. That dress reminds me of my bedroom, the color of sunshine, which makes me happy. Each morning, I wake up to the sun shining through my window making my room glow. This helps me feel like everything is gonna be alright. I would love to have a dress that symbolizes that feeling.

I love the Poppy Shirt Swing Dress in light blue, it would be perfect for Spring (which is hopefully not too far away!). I recently spent my Birthday money on the Sherry Diner Dress and was chuffed to bits wiwh the quality, fit and price:-) x

I’m absolutely loving the Penelope Diner dress. I’m slightly torn between which I love more between the floral green and cream and the red and black, but think the floral takes it. It looks like the perfect dress that could be worn for both work and play. I’m all for wardrobe pieces that can double up for both!
