If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a hundred times: I love border prints. I’ve gushed about landscape border prints here on the blog before numerous times, but I come across stand-out floral border prints less often, though I love them no less. Therefore, when I saw this rose border print Sweet Pea dress by Miss Fortune, I had all the love for it. I did my usual of talking myself out of the purchase because I’m saving, but then, a ha, I had to return something more expensive to a different store, so hello Sweet Pea! Welcome to your new garden. Or, rather, corn field.

The Sweet Pea dress comes in 4 different, adorable prints, but the Rose Border dress is the only border print. It. Is. Gorgeous. I love that the print includes peach beside the pink and red, an unusual colour combination to find, but it works so well and really stands out. As the background is white it’s a colourful dress that also isn’t too bright or overwhelming for the colour-shy, as well as feeling fresh and summery. There are so many colour options for styling this print, as all shades of green and soft blues would look great paired with this dress.
The dress itself is a sleeveless number with a subtle sweetheart neckline and a gathered knee-length skirt (26 inches long, to be exact.) There’s an almost-too-cute pocket on the front right of the skirt, just big enough for your phone and a lipstick/compact. It closes with a back zipper and is fully lined, made in the UK and of a wonderful quality all over.
I’m between the XL and XXL sizes from Miss Fortune so I wasn’t sure at first which size to order this dress. When I’ve ordered skirts in the XXL before I’ve had to take in the waist quite a bit to fit me, but I knew that would be more difficult with a dress so I decided to opt for the XL. The fabric is cotton so there’s only a bit of give to this dress and no stretch. As such the waist fits me fine but the bust that is a tight squeeze, which isn’t surprising given it’s made for a bust two inches smaller than mine. To account for this I’ll be adjusting the rounded back of the dress to form a deeper V, giving me some extra breathing room in the bust without disrupting the lovely fit of the dress elsewhere. As it is the dress flat measures just shy of 36 inches in the waist and 43.5 inches in the bust, making it very true to the size chart. Given there’s not much room for error with the cotton fabric, make sure to check the size chart if you’re unfamiliar with ordering from Miss Fortune.
The Sweet Pea Dress in Rose Border print comes in sizes XS to XXL for £58.99 and is made to order, so your order can take an extra 7 days to accommodate that making time. The Sweet Pea Dress also comes in 3 other prints. Miss Fortune ship internationally.
I’ve never ordered from Miss Fortune before but I’m so tempted by this dress! I normally wear a 16 in Lindy Bop and Lady V and XL in Hell Bunny – what would you recommend for this? A L or an XL?
