I know, I know; English readers will be thinking but we only just had our second bout of snow! But you know what? I don’t care. I’m bored of winter. I am ready for florals and frills and wicker bags and wedges! England might yet to be convinced that it is spring, but I am, and thanks to Hell Bunny I am refusing to back down!

I mean, where do we even start? The gorgeous tropical print of this Tahiti skirt, or the joy of finding such a budget-friendly, upper-arm flattering peasant top? LET’S DO BOTH!

You might recognise this print from last year’s pale blue Tahiti 50s dress, which was an instant favourite of mine. As such, I was pretty excited to see that dreamy print returning this year in this additional black iteration, both in that original dress form and in this new Tahiti skirt.

It features the same wooden buttons that helped make the dress feel like you were about to fly off to a tropical island for a much needed vacation with an arm full of bamboo bangles. Said buttons are located off-centre down the left side of the skirt, a feature I adore, but as those buttons function as the closure of the skirt and there’s no zip to give you away, you could technically twist the skirt round to have the buttons sit in the middle of the skirt if you get twitchy with off-centre things. (I took pictures above showing the buttons in both placements.) Bear in mind that doing so will make the pockets (yay!) sit off centre on your body, but the skirt is so full and the print so rich that nobody but you would notice this if that’s the only way you can stand to wear it.

Speaking of fullness, it’s a beautiful gathered piece with enough volume to rock a puffy medium volume petticoat with ease, though it hangs well by itself if you don’t like the silhouette of a big skirt. The fabric is cotton and has no stretch, so you’ll have to make sure you order the right size to get the correct fit.

And now, onto the Rio top. I’m a big fan of peasant tops because I love the way they flatter all bust shapes with their dipped neckline and the generous display of one’s collarbone that allows, but they often dig into my upper arms, leaving me feeling torn; yes, my boobs look great, but my arms feel a bit strangled, or worse, also LOOK strangled. No one likes a chubby upper pinch! As such, I often end up pairing them with a cropped cardigan to help disguise that awkward arm situation, but with this Rio top that’s not necessary. It offers all the wholesome sexiness of an exposed expanse of decolletage with none of the arm gouging, not least because there’s plenty of stretch in the elastic anyway, but also because the lovely frill detail provides the perfect upper arm coverage. Ladies, we have a winner! And it comes in 3 colours, red, white and black.

In regards to sizing, the Rio top has lots of wiggle room while the Tahiti skirt allows none. I opted for the top in a XL/16 and it’s a great fit. The waist flat measures 37 inches with stretch to 39 inches, while the bust flat measures 40 inches and stretches to 45. It measures 17 inches long down the centre front and the back closes with a separating zipper. I got the Tahiti skirt in a 18/2XL and it measures 36 inches flat in the waistband with no stretch at all. It’s 27 inches long.
