Tamrika Love [Miss Candyfloss]

Certain colours get largely overlooked in the vintage style world, one of which I would say is khaki. It wouldn’t typically be a colour I would pine for, so close to me is its association to the multi-purpose trousers that were trendy when I was 11, but Miss Candyfloss can make any colour work, and goddamnit if they haven’t produced a stunning dress in the Tamrika-Sand!

Dress: Tamrika-Sand gifted by Miss Candyfloss

Faux Fur stole: Old eBay
Brooch: Vintage

This dress has already been out for a couple weeks so I wanted to warn you up front that it’s almost sold out on Miss Candyfloss’s own website, but many of their stockists still have it available in some or all sizes, including Boho Chic, Unique Vintage, and Glam Rock Clothing. Miss Candyfloss are always happy to direct customers to their stockists when required, so if you need additional help tracking this (or any other piece) down, don’t be shy about emailing them.

With that out of the way, let’s get into the specifics of this beauty. As I mentioned in my opening, this dress boasts an incredible use of a khaki green colour that is really rare in vintage reproduction clothing. It’s rich and earthy, and I kind of love that in low lighting it can read as brown. The skirt and contrasting inverted notched collar are made of a heavy cotton mix fabric that is reminiscent of tweed, making this dress an appropriately warm wear for winter that gives off a feel of the English countryside. The buttons are covered in that matching tweedy fabric to contrast with the plain green of the bodice, while the top most button is covered in said green to contrast with the tweedy collar. There are also matching covered buttons on the sleeves. All the buttons are functional, though the dress does additionally open with a hidden size zipper. This dress comes with a khaki matching fabric grommit belt, and there are pockets in the pleated skirt.

The design of this dress is lovingly well-thought out, resulting in a piece that is unique, as so many of Miss Candyfloss’s dresses are. As a brand they offer something singular in their aesthetic that no other vintage inspired clothing brand does, producing items that I can almost always recognise as being Miss C by sight even before reading or being told the brand. Their quality is also exceptional, with all their items made in Europe to the highest standards. It all culminates in the fact that Miss Candyfloss is my favourite brand, and this dress is as lovely as all the others I’m lucky enough to own by them.

I asked for this dress in my usual Miss C 2XL and it’s perfect, as always. Miss Candyfloss do an excellent job at grading up their sleeves through the plus sizes, which is something I find a lot of other brands fail on, so this is a comfortable wear for those of us with large upper arms. The waist flat measures 38 inches with a touch of give, while the bust measures 48 inches with stretch to 50, putting it spot on with the size chart on Miss C’s website for this specific piece. The skirt is 28 inches long.

The Tamrika-Sand is available in sizes XS-5XL. If you love the design of this dress, you might be interested in the Tanah-Dora, which has the same design features but is made largely in a plain brown fabric. Miss Candyfloss ship worldwide, and also have stockists all over the globe.
