My favourite thing about this season is, without a doubt, the changing and falling of the leaves. Watching the trees that line my route to work gradually shift colours over the course of a few weeks genuinely makes my drive a happier experience, and the chance to step on a crunchy leaf whenever I’m on foot fills me with glee. What better way, then, to celebrate my leafy love of the season than to don a dress that sports exactly that–it’s Voodoo Vixen time.

The leaves on this dress are, admittedly, not yellow, nor red or orange, but they are a deep olive green, set against a sheer black background, resulting in a dark and moody print that feels perfect for this time of year. While the leaf patterned lace is sheer, the dress is fully lined through the skirt and the bodice, with thin adjustable spaghetti straps, leaving a barely discernible glimpse of skin across your collar bone. It has a gently gathered skirt, so even with a slim petticoat it makes for a dress of subtle volume, perfect for ladies who find full skirted swing dresses overwhelming.

It’s sleeveless and comes with a gold metallic elasticated belt that clasps with two interlocked leaves. It closes with a hidden back zip that halts at about the level of the black slip lining, then it has an open key-hole at the upper back that closes at the top with a round black button and elasticated loop. Overall it’s a comfortable wear that can be styled up for festive parties or styled down with layers and the right accessories to create a casual daytime autumn look.

I asked for this dress in a 1X and it’s a great fit apart from being quite short in the waist on me by about 2 inches. Because the waist sits so high on me it also only just hits me at the knee (I’m 5 ft 7,) so this might be a great option for petite ladies or those with short torsos. Specifically, it flat measures 35 inches in the waist with stretch to approximately 37.5 inches, while the bust flat measures 40 inches with stretch to 45 inches. The bodice is 16.5 inches long from shoulder point to waist and the skirt is 27 inches long.
