I have a lot of items in my wardrobe, in all colours and fabrics. There is one fabric style, though, of which I have none, and of which I have been lately wanting to add to said wardrobe; broiderie anglaise. You’ll more likely hear it referred to as eyelet lace, and you’ll even more likely recognise it as a fabric that screams summer to you. White eyelet lace dresses, whether on small girls or grown women, fit beautifully with sunny days and happy smiles. I’d be delighted to add one to my ever-growing collection of pretties, but today I welcome not the expected crisp white of summer to my closet, but something even more exciting–for me, anyway.

Bring on the mustard!

This dress is just so very cheerful, while also being comfortable and casual. The rich mustard yellow is a stand-out colour on most skin-tones, while the simple shape allows you to get as creative as your heart desires with your styling. It has a straight neckline, forming a square with its wide shoulder straps. The skirt is gently gathered for a lightly vintage-inspired shape and can’t fit a petticoat, so it’s perfect for ladies who feel voluminous skirts are overwhelming or impractical. It does, however, have pockets! The embroidered texture of the fabric steers this dress far away from the possibility of being plain. It is, in the most truest of terms, a real sun dress. 

I asked for this dress in the size 20, as often in Joanie Clothing’s sizes that’s necessary to accommodate my bust. It does fit my bust perfectly but it’s pretty loose on me elsewhere, so I’ve taken it in a little at the waist and could do with taking it in further. Unaltered, though, the waist flat measures 40.5 inches with a touch of stretch to 41.5, while the bust measures 46 inches with stretch to 47. The skirt is 25 inches long.
