Last spring Collectif released their Jemima dress, an instant favourite that sold out in both then-available colours. It came in cream and navy, both sporting multi-coloured polka dots, making it ever so cute and sweet and fun. This season? Oh, this season Jemima is back in a big way, not just in new colours but also in new prints. And me? I’m a little bit obsessed with this palm print.

The new colourways of the Jemima for this year are green and rust versions of the original multi-coloured polka dot style, a white and pink harlequin print that’s part of their collab line with Top Vintage, and two colourways of this cool palm print. The one I’m wearing here is the navy version, but there’s also a mint green version with white, black and lighter green palm leaves in the print to replace the darker tones of my beloved navy version. So, really, there’s a Jemima for pretty much everyone, which works nicely since I think it’s a dress that will look great on everyone!
The Jemima dress is a simple style–a cotton sundress featuring a sweetheart neckline and thick shoulder straps, with an ample gathered skirt that offers volume and pockets. It comes with a matching PU backed fabric grommet belt, held in place by belt loops. The print is a lovely mix of rich greens on navy, and I appreciate that’s a dark colour scheme that still feels completely summery and fun. The dress opens and closes with fully functioning buttons that run down the centre of the dress through it’s entire length. Said buttons are wooden, which is a lovely touch, with their centres painted red to add contrast.
As it’s made from cotton this dress is light and cool to wear, but that means it’s non-stretch so it’s important to get your sizing right on this one. I tend to size between the 18 and 20 in Collectif pieces these days depending upon the dress cut and fabric used, but in this one I absolutely had to size up into the 20 or else there would have been no hopes for the buttons to do up over my bust. The bust measures 46 inches flat with no stretch, while the waist measures 38.5 inches flat. The skirt is 27 inches long and can take a medium-full petticoat, if desired.
The Jemima dress comes in UK sizes 6-22, in 6 colours. Collectif ship worldwide and have stockists all over the globe.
