Keen in Green [Hearts and Roses London]

One of my first ever vintage-style dresses–my second, to be precise–was a Hearts and Roses dress. In fact, I wore it to my brother’s wedding, back when I was a baby pinup who didn’t know much yet about what her vintage style would be, what suited her best, what she loved most of all. All I knew was that I loved that dress, with it’s contrast red and white detailing, and it’s full skirt. This Hearts and Roses dress today is very different, but one thing remains the same; boy do I love it.

Dress: Gabriella Swing dress gifted by Hearts and Roses London
Belt: Old New Look
Bag: Old Collectif
Shoes: Diana heels by Lulu Hun
Bangles: Leopard bangles by Bow & Crossbones + Mouse bangles by Splendette

The Gabriella dress comes in this gorgeous emerald green and a lush wine-toned plum, so in either colour it’s an autumn treat! The pointed lapel collar and the decorative fabric-covered dainty buttons give this dress a structured chic look, while the stretchy fabric means it’s fully comfortable to wear all day long. It comes with a matching fabric grommet belt, though I’ve replaced it with this skinny leopard print number to add some contrasting fun to my outfit.

The three-quarter length sleeves are flattering on every body type. To the delight of every woman ever, there’s even pockets–welt pockets in the front of the skirt, to be exact, echoing the welt detail on the upper bust. The full swing skirt takes a medium-full petticoat beautifully, ready to swish and swirl should you wish, but also falls nicely without one, especially for a work-appropriate look.

I asked for this dress in a size 20 and it’s a great fit. The waist flat measures 36 inches with stretch to 40, while the bust flat measures 41 inches with stretch to 46. The skirt is 28 inches long. My large upper arms fit comfortably without any straining or tightness at all–the upper sleeves measure 16 inches in circumference. This dress closes with a concealed side zip that glides closed smoothly, and it can be machine washed.

The Gabriella dress is available in UK sizes 8-26, and Hearts and Roses are sending out a complimentary face mask with every order. They ship worldwide and have stockists around the globe.
