This is the final installment in my series of dresses from Goldie’s Clothing, Spanish vintage repro clothing brand. I’ve previously featured two dresses that have some seriously boob-flattering sweetheart necklines, but this final dress is not only different but in a league of it’s own. A Hepburn league.
I give you, the Audrey dress.
It’s easy to see why this dress is one of Goldie’s best sellers. Inspired by Audrey Hepburn, this dress is nothing short of a visual evocation of the style icon. A black wiggle dress that hugs your curves, it features a wide white collar that sits straight across your collarbone in front and plunges into a collared V in the back.
It is simple and glamorous, chic and classic, stylish and timeless. Breathtaking. I am so in love with the design of this dress. I wore this on a day when I needed to keep my hair down for a later event, but to really do justice to the collared neckline this dress would look so beautiful with an Audrey inspired up-do.
The dress closes with a back zipper and has a back slit. I’m 5 ft 7 and it hits me just below the knee, only riding up to sit on the knee with extreme movements. The dress is snug and really does cling to my curves, in a good way; I was worried when I first put it on how tight it was, as I’m often self-conscious of my stomach in wiggle dresses, but I actually think it’s one of the most flattering dresses my stomach has ever been introduced to despite my measurements being a test for the size I ordered, as detailed below.
I’m wearing the XL which is made for a 100cm bust, 82cm waist, and 106cm hips. My own measurements are bust 100cm (39 inches) and waist 84cm (33 inches) and hips 114cm (44 inches.) I was worried about my hips fitting this one (especially since I hadn’t realised I had gained an extra couple inches on them in the past 6 months and was ordering off old measurements, oops: ladies, always keep an eye on your measurements.) There was quite a bit of wiggling involved to get this dress down over my hips, but once the shimmying was complete the dress sat perfectly and there wasn’t any uncomfortable or unsightly bunching, stretching or tautening. Overall I would say that the dress sizes true and that it’s best to follow the size chart as I would have still got a lovely fit if I have sized up for my hips, as I should have done had I taken my recent measurements.
The Audrey dress comes in a size range of XS-3XL and costs 80EUR, available to be shipped internationally from Goldie’s Clothing.
