Lovely Nora-Lee [Miss Candyfloss]

Miss Candyfloss won me over when I purchased their Gigi jumpsuit at the end of last year. It’s chic, classic and modest, which happens to be a description that can be applied to their entire line. Their signature design feature is their pleated bust detail, which is flattering and pretty on all bust sizes. Earlier this summer I went on a little mission to check out what other pieces they offer besides the Gigi with that bust detail, looking for something with a full skirt and a summery feel because, shock horror, for once we were actually broadcast a decent summer. I decided upon the Nora-Lee dress.

I’ve been massively into blues lately, of almost all shades, but especially soft shades like periwinkle and cornflower blue, so this dress immediately drew me in. Once you add in the fact that it has punctuations of red, my favourite accessorising colour, I was sold.

This dress is made of a stretch cotton fabric, which makes it super comfortable for a full day’s wear without pinching or cinching, and it’s a light-medium weight that’s well suited for summer. It’s been hot here by British standards, so I’ve been getting this dress out regularly when I need something comfortable and easy to throw on that won’t leave me overheated. As it’s colourful but also simple, it’s easy to layer it up if the weather has taken an unpredictable turn.

This dress closes with a side zipper and the skirt is a full circle, though there are a few wide, subtle pleats in the waist that make it lay nicely. It’s 25 inches long and fits a medium volume petticoat. The belt pictured doesn’t come with the dress, though I love that it echoes the red in the straps.

This dress is halterneck, which isn’t my favourite style as it can make my neck sore after a few hours, but I love that it has an adjustable halter strap rather than ties. The end of one strap sports 3 little red buttons while the other strap has a button hole, allowing you to customise it to your perfect fit with a much neater finish than the usual bulbous bow you get tying typical halter straps.

In terms of sizing, I ordered an XL, which the Miss Candyfloss size chart states is for 35 inch waists. This dress flat measures 36 inch waist, with enough stretch to max out at 38 inches, so it’s possible you may be able to size down.

While the weather is still warm here I’ll be getting plenty of wear out of it while I still can, but as soon as the temperature turns you can expect to see lots of winter styled Miss Candyfloss pieces here on the blog because their new AW16 line is in.sane. I’m just warning you.

The Nora-Lee dress is available in sizes XS-4XL and costs 95 EUR. Miss Candyfloss ship internationally for 5 EUR, but remember you may be charged customs fees or import taxes if you’re ordering from outside the EU, since Miss C is based in Sweden. All Miss C’s products are made in Europe.
