One of the things I love most about Autumn is how warm and rich all the associated colours are, even while it cools down outside. We’re not quite there yet but when the leaves begin to turn and the world slowly becomes orange and red and yellow and a bit gold, it fills me with joy. For now, when I look out at my garden there’s only the hint of fall touching just some of the leaves, while our apple trees remain laden with their last offerings.
As it happens, this new outfit from Heart of Haute, with it’s plummy plaid goodness, makes me feel just like picking apples, as well as sipping hot chocolate or snuggling down by a log fire, all in nostalgic sepia tones.

If you don’t already know why I love these pieces then you must be new here: Hi, I’m Amy, and I’m obsessed with burgundy, olive, and basically all plaids. And would you look at that, this outfit have all three!
The Lily top and Haute Circle skirt are best selling staples for Heart of Haute, regularly released in new colours. I fell in love with the burgundy Lily top last Autumn-winter season but it sold out before I could snap it up, so I was thrilled to get my Fall-loving fingies on it this season in olive, a colour I love and feel is wildly under-utilised. I’ll happily wear olive all year round but there’s something special about wearing it in the colder months, when it can feel odd to rock a bright colour amid the rainy days and dark early nights. And don’t get me started on the gorgeous rusty burgundy of this Cognac plaid, which is the stuff of my winter dreams. As if the colour alone wasn’t pure perfection, the flannel cotton fabric has that soft-touch texture that reminds me of being all bundled up in my favourite flannel pyjamas. Tactile comfort, beautiful seasonal-appropriate plaid AND full-on twirlability factor? This skirt literally couldn’t get any better.
I have both of these pieces in a 1X, both of which fit true to size. The skirt is made from a non-stretch flannel and measures 36 inches flat in the waist, fastening with a concealed side zip. It’s 26 inches long and can easily accommodate a medium-full volume petticoat since it’s a full circle. The Lily top is made from a high quality medium knit jersey with plenty of comfortable stretch and no risk of sheerness in that stretch. The collar features an adorable square knot bow and the three quarter sleeves are flattering on all body types. This 1X flat measures 36 inches in the waist with enough stretch up to 44 inches, the bust flat at 40 inches with stretch to 48. I love a good quality stretch top because they stay comfortable all day long, without developing any pinching or straining to make me regret my outfit choice as the day draws on. The Lily lives up to that comfort level with ease and has the versatility of being both work appropriate and being cute enough to wear socially as well, a true wardrobe staple.
The Cognac Plaid Circle skirt is only left in select sizes (M-3X at the time of writing) but it’s available in 2 other gorgeous new Autumn plaids as well, all $99-103. The Lily top is available in 10 shades in sizes XS-3X for $40. Heart of Haute ship internationally and offer a 10% discount to return customers. They also offer a custom orders service using select fabrics they stock, with customers in their Haute Honey Hideaway closed Facebook group sometimes getting early access to limited-edition fabric custom availability or upcoming sales, so it’s worth joining!
Oooooo I don’t usually go for tartan/plaid but I am DIGGING these knew plaids from HoH. Girl you got me twitching for a new skirt now….
