Isla Good + Giveaway [Zoe Vine]

Zoe Vine is known for her simple, classic dresses, whether that’s flared or swing. This season’s new line is a continuation of that chic theme, with new velvet and lurex items on offer that are perfect for the winter party season, as well as their first full length gown. For me, though, lover of jewel tones as I am, it’s all about the Isla dress, a rich jewel green flared style that puts me in mind of the elegance, modesty and simplicity of the 1940s.

Dress: Isla dress C/O Zoe Vine
Shoes: Whiskey Daffodils by Restricted Footwear
Brooch: Vintage
Bag: KookiDeLou

This dress makes for such a change for me as I’m almost entirely a full-swing dress kinda lady, with the occasional appearance of a slinky little wiggle dress. I loved the idea of challenging myself to step outside my usual style comfort zone, though, and the shade of this dress was just too gorgeous to resist–although I’ll admit the blue undertones of this particular green have come through strongly in these pictures making it look less emerald than it really is in person.

The Isla dress is very similar to the blue Neve dress already up on the Zoe Vine site, a gently flared dress made from a high quality, thick stretch fabric with pleats at the rounded neckline and fitted cuffs on the bishop sleeves. This is my first bishop sleeved piece I’ve ever owned and I was pleased with how flattering I found that sleeve style. There’s a pleat detail in the centre of the skirt, below the matching notched fabric belt, which allows you to add a very slim volume petticoat if you want just a little lift away from your legs, as I have done for these pictures.

There’s no zip but it’s a stretchy dress so to get it on you undo the single button on the back of the neck and slip it on over your head. My only suggestion because of that isย thatย if you’re doing a brush out then it’s best toย leave your pincurls in while you get dressed then style your hair afterwards. With so much stretch in the fabric, this size 16 I’m wearing can fit 30 to 36 inches in the waist and 40 to 46 inches in the bust, while the skirt is 27 inches long. It makes for a super comfortable dress that is a joy to wear all day long, with no pinching or digging in.

The Isla dress comes in UK sizes 8 to 16 and I’m thrilled to say that one of you lucky ladies will be winning an Isla of your own! Zoe Vine has one of these beauties available for one lucky winner in a competition that is open internationally, so click the link below to get in your contest entries between now and Sunday 15th October midnight BST for your chance to win. The winner will be announced here on the blog on Monday 16th.
