When it comes to prints, there’s not many that work year round. Anything nautical suits only good weather, which here in England certainly means it’s meant for only spring and summer, at best. Tropical florals work the same way, feeling odd in the cold, darker parts of the year. Tartan and checks suit cold months best, while pretty pastel florals will always look best in spring. But a rose print? Oh a rose print can work all year round. And this Antonia print by Hell Bunny is ready to represent.

This new Antonia print is part of Hell Bunny’s new Spring/Summer 2019 line, but as you can tell from my intro, I happen to think it looks flawless all year round. Hopefully you’ll agree, given the winter styling I leaned into for this post. The black background of the fabric makes it easy to add layers of black or other moody tones to rock this dress during the dim days and the cold months, while in summer wedges and cat eye sunglasses will work just as beautifully.
Speaking of beauty, can we talk about how lovely this dress is laying in these photos even though I wasn’t wearing a petticoat? The gathers allow it to flow just so, achieving a petti-free medium volume all on its lonesome. That means when the weather does finally begin to warm up you won’t be left choosing between overheating or adding a petticoat to achieve your desired silhouette. If you are a petticoat lover, as I am, almost entirely regardless of the weather, then those gathers in the skirt will help you achieve a gorgeous level of flounce.
Sitting just above my knee on my 5ft 7 frame, this Antonia dress is a slightly shorter sister to the also-newly-released Marlena dress, which shares the same print but has a boat neckline. Antonia sports a sweetheart neckline, overlapping cap sleeves, a hidden back zip, and *~pockets ~* (Yes, that so 2004 decorative punctuation was very necessary, and if you don’t agree then you clearly don’t appreciate pockets in ladies clothing as much as you should.)
I asked for this dress in the size 18/2X, my Hell Bunny go-to, and it fits true to their usual sizing. The waist flat measures 37.5 while the bust flat measures 44 inches. It’s a non-stretch fabric with minimal/no give so choosing the right size is important. The skirt measures 24 inches long.
