I’ve always thought that you’re either a robe person or you’re not, and I think it largely runs in families. I’ve never been someone who bothers with robes–or at least I wasn’t, until I became a pinup. Suddenly the concept of a robe had so many more possibilities than just those bulky, drab toweling robes that…I don’t know, people presumably put on after showering if they can’t be bothered to dry off immediately?
Now robes could be slinky little numbers thrown over silk slips in the morning while brushing out my pincurls and applying my vintage makeup. They could have billowing bishop sleeves, indescribably soft marabou trim, yards and yards of fabric that swish as you walk, recline, answer the phone to the latest in the long line of suitors desperate for your company. They could be decadent. Since I met with this robe revelation I’ve picked up several of those short slinky numbers perfect for getting ready in, but I’d yet to get my eager hands on any of those truly luxurious options. That is, until now. And my word, once you go Glamour Robe, there’s no going back.

The Teal Devore Long Robe is part of Fuller Figure Fuller Bust’s line designed in collaboration with Playful Promises. The entire collection screams lush. That is in part because George, a lingerie blogger who focuses largely on extended sizes underwear and clothing reviews, chose to forego including bras in this line to produce capsule sets that instead can paired with bras you already own, no matter your bust size, consequently leaving nobody out.
So instead of a multitude of bra-knickers-maybe-suspender-belts sets in a variety of lovely designs, this collection offers fun alternative pieces that can largely be worn not just as underwear but outerwear too. There are sumptuous capes, featuring both fringe and lace, that would be killer worn to dinner with a deadly wiggle dress and heels, as well as just as divine in the bedroom sans wiggle dress. There are two bodysuits, one classic black lace and the other a fun turquoise, ready to be rocked with jeans on a night out if you want to get a little funky. There are french knickers that are truly beautiful, matching suspender belts, and, of course, this flawless robe.
This robe is a perfect answer to the question ‘Can I have a robe that’s excessively gorgeous but also genuinely practical?’ It has wide sleeves that make you feel fabulously fancy as you primp and preen, but won’t accidentally end up flopping into your breakfast while you multi-task. It’s long and flowing, but there isn’t so much extra fabric in the skirt that you’ll shut it in doors or catch it on edges. It can be worn as an oh-shit-someone’s-at-the-door cover up that sees you running down the stairs at speed in your slip, only for the postal worker to be amazed there’s such a glamorous babe on their route. And it can just as easily be worn as an oh-shit-you-won’t-believe-what-I’ve-got-on-under-here bedroom prelude that will see your partner thanking the universe for your existence. Oh, and let’s not forget the lounging, of course; there will be lounging. Languid, lavish, ever so vintage lounging.
Made from a soft velvet devore fabric featuring a baroque print, it’s both plush to the touch and sensual to the eyes, with sheer glimpses of what lies underneath visible without being entirely transparent. The satin tie keeps things in place, and the hem, edging and sleeves are all trimmed in satin binding. It is, in fewer words, a velvet exhale of glamour.
My bust measurement put me in the size 20 so that’s what I asked for and it’s a great fit. The thing I find sometimes with robes, especially when bought from the high street, is that sometimes they don’t really give you enough fabric to be able to cross over the front securely once tied, so you’re left with the kind of meager coverage that makes you wonder why you even bothered to put on a robe. That’s not an issue with this piece–not unless you want to have some playful slippage, that is. It closes over my 46/47 inch bust without issue and fits well even across my broad back and shoulders. It’s a dream, and just looking at it makes me happy.
The Teal Devore Long Robe comes in UK sizes 8-26, a size range that is carried through the entire collection.
