If there’s one thing the weather lately has been calling for, it’s a maxi dress. I only own a handful because I’m really specific about what cuts I like, but this floral number from Dolly & Dotty? It easily checks off the boxes on my list.

This dress is just so lovely. The floral pattern is perfectly vibrant against the black background, and the floaty material feels lightweight and comfortable to move in. I especially love that the faux-crossover style of the neckline gives a feeling of structure to the bodice that maxi dresses rarely offer, and that the short sleeves keep me cool whilst offering enough upper arm coverage to make me feel secure and confident.

As you can see from some of my pictures sans-belt, the waist has a deep shirred elastic panel, offering flexibility of fit and movement. That waist panel works brilliantly on hot days to keep me feeling comfy where no-give waistlines can sometimes start to rub me the wrong way, literally, as well as guaranteeing comfort on bloated days or after an unexpectedly large meal. Overall, this dress feels relaxing to wear, which it almost has no right to given it’s also incredibly flattering and so very pretty. I love that I can pick out the different colours in the print to match with different accessories. Although if this print isn’t for you then you’ll be happy to know it comes in 21 other prints, patterns and plain colours, so there’s bound to be an option you love. And, psst–they’re all on sale.

This maxi dress comes in dual sizing. I typically wear a size 18 in Dolly & Dotty dresses but I checked the size chart for this dress and decided the 20/22 would be the best fit for my bust. That was absolutely the right choice, as it’s a perfect fit. The waist measures 26 inches flat but 46 inches fully stretched. Because of the dolmain style sleeves I found it hard to take an accurate measurement of the bust for you, but it fit my 46 inch bust easily, so I can confirm that the size chart is accurate for this piece and recommend that you follow it.
