I love it when brands have a focus and a vision, thus it was a delight to be introduced to Marie Zélie. Their motto is ‘femininity wrapped in quality,’ and that ethos is reflected in every aspect of their line; they produce classic, feminine designs that can be worn season after season, shunning the wear-and-ditch trends of fast fashion, and their items are made to a high quality from natural fibres so that their pieces will last years while being kind to your skin. In the vintage loving community those qualities are praised and appreciated, obviously, so I was excited to try their Aida wrap dress. It certainly lives up to their aims!

Marie Zélie is a Polish company and all their pieces are made in Poland, so purchasing from them ensures you receive a quality product that supports European manufacturing. I can feel from the fabric of this dress that it really is made to last well, with a sturdier standard evident in the material than the kind of cheap thin stretch fabrics you find offered on the high street. Said fabric is lovely and soft, with tons of stretch for comfort and ease of movement, and elegance in its drape.
The V-neck wrap neckline looks good on everybody, and also means there’s discreet easy access for breastfeeding. I love that the tie belt is longer than those on other wrap dresses I own because it allows me to wrap the belt around my waist 2 or 3 times for a tight cinch, should I wish, or simply once to gain the graceful, relaxed look of having the long belt hanging loose. The three-quarter length sleeves flatter all, and the skirt falls below the knee. The fact that it’s long enough to obscure the top of my knee high boots feels neat and reassuring, especially at this time of year when deciding on the colour and denier of tights adds yet another aspect to what to consider when dressing.
As Marie Zélie is a Polish company they use European sizing, so it’s important to check the size chart with your measurements to ascertain your correct size. I asked for this dress in the 46, knowing I likely could have sized down into the 44 due to the stretch in the fabric but wanting modest cleavage coverage from the V-neck. The size chart for the 46 technically allows for 41 inch busts, but my 46 inch bust fit with no issues thanks to the fabric stretch, so you can be assured that the fabric can cater to several inches more all over than the size chart allows.
