I’ll tell you what, there is perhaps no other brand as aptly named as The Pretty Dress Company. No muss, no fuss, just pretty dresses all around. Today’s post is plenty evidence enough, I think. Let’s look at Leyla.

The Leyla dress is a half-sleeved classic. With a full swing skirt, a fixed faux wrap-over style bodice featuring flattering pleats and a cinched waist, and those aforementioned sleeves, it’s modest, timeless, and chic. I fail to think of any body type that wouldn’t be complimented by this beauty, and even the colour selection it is available in leaves no one behind—from this lush forest green and a rich berry all the way through to spring time pastels, this dress comes in 12 shades. There’s even a white, which would make an incredible budget-friendly wedding dress for vintage lovers.

The quality of TPDC pieces is always sublime and the Leyla holds up that standard. It’s fully lined, made using quality fabric that lifted up out of the careful tissue paper packaging it was delivered in with zero creases, making it an excellent all-day-wear dress for practically every event or occasion. The full circle skirt has a beautiful sweep, able to accommodate a full volume petticoat with ease, while the pockets hidden in the side seam answer every woman’s fashion prayers. It’s a timeless piece in the true sense of the word, impossible to pass out of style because it simply is style. 

At the moment the Leyla dress is available ready made up to a size 18, but The Pretty Dress Company happily accept custom orders, and indeed they made me the size 20 I needed in this dress quickly and perfectly sized to their size chart. The waist is 38 inches flat with a couple inches stretch in the fabric, while the bust is 44 inches flat with room up to 50. The sleeves are graded up appropriately, with zero threats of a single pinch on my large upper arms, something that is always both a surprise and a relief in sleeved dresses. The dress closes with a centre back zip and the skirt is 28.5 inches long.
