Hell Bunny always offers great tropical prints, typically creating one or two new ones every year for their spring/summer range. This year sees the return of the Ukulele print from SS21 but now in pale blue and green tones, and the release of this lush Adelaida print, a darker, earthy take on what I often think of when I think of tropical prints—namely, colour and lots of it. In fact, the Adelaida print doesn’t feature tropical flowers at all, and yet something about the print still tells my brain it’s a tropical print, but like, in a chilled way. Is it just me?? Let’s take a closer look so you can decide.

This Adelaida print boasts sage, tan, and white coloured leaves layered amongst cream lilies and white peonies, all on a black background. With pops of dark red as the brightest tones, it makes for a summer print that doesn’t scream about it’s summeryness. It’s perfect for all-black-all-the-time clothing lovers who feel a bit bereft when planning what to pack for a vacation somewhere very hot. Perhaps it’s the denseness of the overlapping foliage, perhaps it’s the keyhole sweetheart neckline, but my brain really does think ‘chilled tropical print’ when it looks at this design, and regardless of whether or not that is correct, I think it’s deeply lovely anyway.
The Adelaida dress has a sweetheart neckline which features a keyhole central to the bust fashioned around a dark bamboo ring. The shoulder straps are adjustable by way of sliders, just like a standard bra, great for getting just the right fit. The skirt is full enough for a full-volume petticoat should you wish to wear one, and there are pockets in the side seams. Forever yay! It’s made in cotton so it’s lightweight and comfortable for hot weather wear.
I love that I can add extra colour into an outfit with this dress by picking out the red or green tones in the print to echo in my accessories, or just lean into the earthiness by reflecting the black, brown or beige tones to keep an outfit understated. Gold, wood and bamboo would all layer over the print just as well, while white will lift everything up. For such a packed print, there’s nothing busy about it, making it an incredible option for folks who are print-shy, as well as those who don’t like wearing a lot of colours at once.
I asked for this in my standard Hell Bunny 2XL and it fits very true to their usual sizing. The waist flat measures 38 inches flat with stretch to 40. The bust is 45.5 inches flat with stretch to 47.5 inches, and the skirt is 28 inches long. This dress closes with a centre back zip topped with a hook and eye, and is machine washable.
The Adelaida dress comes in sizes XS-6XL. The Adelaida print is also available as a skirt, jumpsuit and crop top. Hell Bunny ship worldwide and have stockists all over the globe.
