Hell Bunny are so good at making sweet little sun dresses, especially in a tropical print. Pretty much every year they release one or more new tropical prints as part of their spring/summer range, and my favourite this year is their Calypso print. Now, this might shock some of you, as I happily state that I just don’t like pink–but I’m a complicated woman, and that statement, like many others, comes with caveats. Like, ‘except for lipstick,’ or ‘unless it’s paired with black, or green.’ Well, would you look at that, this print has both of those! It’s just a cute summer print, and it makes for a lovely sun dress you can wear to death.

I live in dresses year round, but there is something so special about those first days of spring when you can finally debate leaving off your tights and excessive layers–this was one of those days, though admittedly the threat of rain clouds on the horizon did convince me to stick with a cardigan. But still, the pure joy of donning a summery dress for the first time each year! And Calypso is a great option, casual and cute, it’s a dress you can wear pretty much anywhere in your day to day life, while still being an excellent candidate for wearing on vacation when you just want to feel fabulous and floaty and free.

With a full circle skirt–sorry, a BEPOCKETED full circle skirt, you can twirl and swish happily, and stow your little essentials away in your pockets. The bodice is fitted with a sweetheart neckline, so it’s almost universally flattering, as well as just downright classic. The shoulder straps are adjustable by way of a slider each, just like bra straps, so you can customise your fit to get it right, something I love as a lady with a slightly long waist. The print, while featuring hibiscus and tropical greenery, isn’t loud in its summeriness, instead displaying understated tones of mid and pale pinks, with soft greens set against a black background. It’s definitely the kind of summertime print that works for folks who don’t love layering bold colours, or who just struggle to let go of black completely–it’s the chicest comfort colour, I get it y’all. In all, it’s just a great little summer dress that does exactly what you expect a summer dress to do–look and feel good!

I usually wear a 2X in Hell Bunny and this dress is no exception. The waist flat measures 36.5 inches with stretch to almost 40 inches, while the bust lays flat at 42 inches and stretches to 45.5 inches. The skirt is 26 inches long and the dress closes with a back zipper. It’s machine washable.
