The SECOND I saw the Sicily dress I was in love. I’ve always adored a blue and white print—I remember loving the big willow pattern serving plate that sat on display on my family’s Welsh dresser my entire childhood. And lord knows I love a sun dress—they’re practically my entire wardrobe. So a sundress in a blue and white print? There was no question I would be won over, fixated, utterly enraptured! As such I’ve been waiting for this dress’s release with a not-so-low level of thrumming desperation for the past two or three months, and finally she is here, Sicily, sweet Sicily. And she’s perfect!

This dress shape isn’t new for Hell Bunny, but it’s been one of my favourites of theirs ever since their first rendition of it, and every spring/summer I look forward to seeing whether this cut will get a new print for the season. Will they ever top this Sicily print? It will certainly be hard to, in my eyes.

Still, the print aside, this dress shape is a summer stunner, simple and sweet. The fitted bodice has a sweetheart neckline leading into thin adjustable shoulder straps, while the gathered skirt flows beautifully from the waist, ready to float or puff, depending on your petticoat preferences. Said skirt does have pockets, so for hot days out you can just tuck away your essentials and get to prancing in this darling little number. It’s a no-frills, flattering classic sun dress shape, so I love that the tile inspired print is so bold and bright. The blue is rich, like the colour of the summer sky on a bright clear day, and simply gorgeous for it. My brain hums with satisfaction when encountering symmetry, so this print is just a perfect dose of gratification, all those circles, segments and points crisply repeating, repeating, repeating.

Sigh–heaven!

This dress is made from a stretch cotton, so there is some ease of fit and comfort offered for a full day’s wear. It closes with a centre back zipper. I asked for it in my standard HB size of 2XL and it fits as expected. The waist flat measures at 36 inches, with stretch to 38.5 inches. The bust lays flat at 42.5 inches with stretch to 46. The shoulder straps are adjustment by way of sliders, just like your standard bra, so you can customise fit. The skirt is 26.5 inches long.
