Love Ur Look is a UK designed clothing company that produces feminine and flattering vintage style clothing that is all ethically produced. Their dresses cost around £50, their skirts £30 and their tops around £20, which are great prices for repro clothing but especially when you consider that every item is made ethically without cutting corners. Many modern clothing companies outsource to foreign factories willing to overlook minimum age and wage laws, but Love Ur Look consciously chose to seek out ethical production sources both in the UK and India right from their very first collection, ensuring that all workers involved in their production are treated humanely, freely chose their employment and comply with minimum wage laws and minimum age restrictions, amongst other requirements. This ethical background is something I had already heard about Love UR Look, so when designer and owner Ronke recently contacted me asking if I’d like to check out a piece from their new spring/summer line, I jumped at the chance.
You can tell a lot about a company from the way your items arrive, with smaller companies often going the extra length to package their products prettily and with great care. My Love UR Look dress arrived lovingly packed in a printed lavender scented dust bag, something I thought was a sweet touch. The dress they sent me is a floral check dress that they have since named the Floral Picnic dress in honour of The Picnic In The Park event I am helping to host this weekend in London as part of The British Belles.
Love UR Look regularly have pop up shops and attend events. They currently have a pop up shop in Bournemouth until the end of June, with their next one being their fortnight-long pop up shop in Leigh on Sea beginning June 25th, so if you’re UK based you should check out their Where To Find Us page to see where you can look out for their clothes in person.
This dress is simply lovely, a perfect spring and summer piece. There’s pink polka dotted button detailing on either side of the check contrast panel on the bodice and the dress has hidden pockets, one of my favourite features. It closes with a back zipper, comes with a matching fabric belt and a subtle hidden underlayer of netted trim to help give the skirt a little volume if you don’t want to wear a petticoat, though above I have. Then there’s the neckline detail. I love that neckline detail. Rather than a v-neck, sweetheart bust, boat neck, peter pan collar, or any of that jazz, this dress is uniquely…spikey. With two sets of dual atomic-esque triangles jutting up off the bust-line and pointing towards your collarbone, this dress has an interesting mid-century neckline that isn’t often recreated in repro. I think it’s fun, flattering and different. I have the dress in XL, for waists 32-34, and with my 33 inch waist it fits perfectly. Available in sizes equivalent to UK 8-14, this dress comes available in waist sizes that cover 26-36 inch range. Love UR Look asked if I wanted to give away one of these dresses to one of my readers, and of course I said yes, so one of you is going to be a lucky lady! I have left my house 6 times in the last 2 months. I still get dressed every day only for me and my children. dressing daily has been my mask while my life fell apart, and is slowly being put back together . I have 5 children, my husband and I fell on hard times after Christmas and are still recovering. I lost my car 2 months ago, had to pull my kids out of their activities, and we’ve been stuck at home since, while daddy is gone 12 hours a day. We’ve done everything you could imagine, indoors and out, but can not wait to venture out of our neighborhood. As hard as it’s been to look myself in the eye, I had to. For my kids, they couldn’t see mommy any other way. We are finally at the point where things are beginning to fall into place. (knock on wood) My beautiful children have been amazing through all of this! And I’ve promised to have a ‘yes day’ the day after we get our car the second week of July! I’m going to take them anywhere they want to go, within 40 miles of our house, and finish the night at their great grandmother’s! Having this new pretty to wear would just be the icing on the cake for what I know is going to be the best day of my life! Thanks for this giveaway. I love your seeing your photos every day! Xx-PJ

I would probably not wear it too often, although I would imagine my wife would wear it *everywhere* – from festivals to fetes, picnics to parties, even wandering around a supermarket, I don’t think she would need an excuse as it is 100% her style.
