Peter Pan collars aren’t usually my thing–unless they’re on a cardigan, that is. Something about a collared cardigan always strikes me as more polished than a regular round necked cardigan, so this Katy pearl cardigan by Voodoo Vixen won me over the moment I first saw it. Not only does is sport a Peter Pan collar, but said collar is trimmed with delicate faux pearls and finished with an eye catching ivory bow. Ding ding ding! We have a winner.

The Katy cardigan is a full length medium knit cardigan with full length sleeves. The peter pan collar is trimmed with a line of faux pearls, which are echoed in the pearlised buttons that run down the centre of the cardigan. The final stand-out design feature is the detachable crêpe-like ties at the neckline which can be tied into a pretty, eye catching bow, or easily removed altogether. The ties are attached to the cardigan’s neckline by a button, as shown below, so it’s simple to pop them off to wear the cardigan sans-bow.

Voodoo Vixen’s cardigans typically run large and this Katy cardigan follows that pattern. I wear XL in all Voodoo Vixen dresses but wear an L in their cardigans, and this large Katy cardigan is a perfect fit. The medium knit, cotton blend of the fabric is stretchy and comfortable, so you’ll likely be able to size down if you want to achieve a more figure-hugging fit to your cardigan. If you want a looser fit through the torso, buy your usual size.

The black and white colour scheme of this cardigan makes it very classic and refined, while the pearls lend a sophisticated feminine touch. The bow is the feature that most drew me to the cardigan but I love that it’s detachable because it adds such a level of versatility to the piece. It’s also possible to style it up or down depending entirely upon what pieces you pair it with. A pencil skirt, classic heels and a neat clutch bag will make it look timeless and elegant, but paired with more gothic or romantic themed items will add some edge or dreaminess to your look. It is, indeed, a cardigan for all seasons, a piece of knitwear for all time, and I expect to wear it over and over again this winter.
