Okay, so maybe this post isn’t named with all that much original brilliance, particularly since it’s a real near-miss with the name, but the dress it focuses on offers enough to make up for it. It is, of course, the wonderful Deliliah dress by Voodoo Vixen.

Every season I say it’s Voodoo Vixen’s best season yet, and considering the utter gem that is the Violet dress I already reviewed a few weeks back and now this delightful Deliliah, it’s kind of no wonder. Both dresses are fresh, fun and ready to be worn out in the sun, and with Deliliah now in my hands I’ll be doing just that. This green, those daisies, these pockets! My, someone hold my handbag because I sure do feel faint.

It will be hard for any dress to beat my love for the Violet dress but this Deliliah comes incredibly close. It’s another item I saw only a glimpse of the neckline in sneak peek pictures posted by Miss Victory Violet on her Instagram back when she modeled the line for Voodoo Vixen in winter, but seeing those little daisies trimming something in this shade of green was enough for me to know it was going to be a winner. The fact that it comes in this lovely flared swing dress or an adorable flared-shorts playsuit makes it a double-whammy offering of a design that is a treat in both incarnations.

The sweet daisy lace trim is echoed thrice over in the hem and on the front pockets as well as lining the neckline, popping against the vibrant green of the light but tweed-like fabric. The skirt is flared but not full so it will allow for a slim volume petticoat for those who feel naked without one, but it otherwise makes for a lovely option for ladies who find that full skirted dresses make them feel clumsy or frumpy. The spaghetti straps are adjustable, the sweetheart neckline flattering on all bust sizes, and the front pockets simply too cute.

While the Violet in her non-stretch fabric was a tight fit for me through the bust, even with the shirred back panel, the Deliliah comparatively has much more give I found. It has an invisible back zip fastening and two shirred panels on either side of it. I’m not sure why this dress has so much more room in it than the Violet did as the fabrics are identical, just different colours, and both feature elasticated smocked panels. The Deliliah must simply be cut larger because I can wear it comfortably without having to wear the longline basque to achieve a smaller bust like I have to for the Violet, despite both being an XL. This dress flat measures 34 inches flat with stretch to 37 inches, while the bust measures 38 inches to 44 inches.
