Amy May Meets Daisy May [Voodoo Vixen]

The Deliliah dress from last year’s Voodoo Vixen spring line was one of my favourites, a superlative in cuteness, brightness, and general spring/summer fun. And it was crazy comfortable! I mean, what more can a girl ask for? As it turns out; a denim version!

Let’s state the obvious right up front here: this dress is practically named for me. Daisy May? Come on! There only has to be minimal mental gymnastics involved for us to pretend that it’s called the Amy May, so let’s just all go ahead and do that moving forward to help excuse the greed of me needing the same dress in two colours, okay?

The Daisy May shares all the same features of last year’s Deliliah that made it such a great dress, right down to the forgiving stretch to the fabric and the elasticated sheering panels in the back that provide even more ease of wear. Now in this dark wash denim it’s just a little more country, which is not something I’m mad at.

It’s got the same flared skirt that will work for ladies who don’t like to add the illusion of extra weight around their hips with gathers or pleats. The adjustable spaghetti straps help you to customise the right fit in the bodice, while the pockets just suck up all the air in the room screaming LOOK AT HOW CUTE I AM. The daisy trim literally can’t get any more adorable and I am all about it.

This dress is going to be available soon in the Vixen Curve range and technically my bust measurement puts me in their 1XL Curve size, so that’s what I opted for. The Ella dress from this winter was so tight in my bust in the XXL (1 size smaller than the 1XL Curve) that I eventually burst the zipper right between my shoulder blades while wearing it (thankfully I was at home at the time, my god.) As such, I figured the 1XL would be a safer, more comfortable fit for this dress, but as it turns out all the stretch in this denim and the elasticated back panel means sticking with an XXL would have been fine because this 1XL fits large on me all over. That likely means you can wear your usual Voodoo Vixen size in this style, even if you’ve recently felt you’re due to size up, and you’ll just find it has some extra stretch that makes it super comfortable. This 1XL  flat measures 38 inches in the waist with stretch to 43, and flat measures 42 inches in the bust with stretch to 48. The skirt is 26 inches long.

The Daisy May Denim dress is currently available in sizes XS-XXL but will also be available soon in their full Curve size range up to 4X. It’s also available in a black fabric option that has embroidered bees on the skirt in the Bee Black dress.
