This month I’ve really learned how hard it must be to rock the full head-to-toe 50s style in countries that easily break and exceed 30c in summer–let alone in spring and autumn, too. Good lord, our heatwave here in the UK has only been off and on for a few weeks, not often topping 30c, but the humidity is so unbearable that the idea of setting my hair in pincurls for a nice curly brush out is nuts. This month it’s been all about getting as much hair off my neck as possible, despite the fact that I’m not crazy about many updos on myself in general, so it’s been clip-in ponytails and neat buns to the rescue! Do any of you hot-weather pinup babes have good tips for cute vintage hair that doesn’t leave you feeling damp necked and pink faced?
The heat aside, it’s been a busy month, with the season of summer birthdays officially beginning. Most of my family have their birthdays over the next 3 months, so it’ll be a fun whirlwind of celebrations starting now.

I was in Asia a few weeks ago and my god, it was ridiculous! With temperatures pushing 40 degrees most days, I resided to tying my hair up in a bun and sticking a retro headband on. I couldn’t cope with anything else!

I wear a bun most days for work, but I’m awful at managing neat ones with my hair. They’re definitely a cooler, chic option for hot weather though!

I love your outfit round ups! And yes, the heat is making my hair/make up/ outfit choices a bit limited too. It’s made me realise what I’m missing in my wardrobe! I have finally perfected a Gibson roll, great to keep the hair off my neck on sticky days and more exciting than my boring old messy bun! Xx

I’ve never managed a Gibson roll! Maybe I should add it to my long list of hairstyles I’d like to master but never make time to practice, lol

I tried my first Gibson roll on my blog a while ago, it didn’t go well! I’ve never been good with up dos, but practice certainly helped haha xx
