Happy 2019! Well, almost. I’m not really a New Year’s Eve believer so I’ll be enjoying a quiet evening at home tonight watching movies and going to bed at a reasonable time because even TV fireworks don’t sound exciting to me. If you’re going out tonight please be careful and safe, and look out for your friends as well. Whether you’re a Christmas celebrator or not, I also hope you’ve had a lovely festive season with time spent with loved ones and maybe some chocolates and good crisps. I’ll see you here again on the blog next week, when we’ll be kicking off 2019 with a giveaway.
CHRISTMAS IS COMING, CHRISTMAS IS COMING! That’s pretty much where my mind is right now, looking forward to time with family and friends, good food and some time off after a busy month. Plus, twinkly lights!
You and I both know that if I pre-amble this post I’m just gonna focus on how excited I am that the season is turning in earnest to autumn, and for those of you who hate the colder seasons I’m going to do you a solid and simply say: yay! Now let’s link some outfits.
It’s been a quiet month again since, much like August, my foot pain has limited how far I can travel and when I can be social. Still, I’m excited it feels truly like autumn now, even if the leaves haven’t begun to change yet. Soon there’ll be pretty colours, snuggly evenings on the sofa and the chance to break out my most fabulous and warm winter coats. Bring it!
This month I’ve really learned how hard it must be to rock the full head-to-toe 50s style in countries that easily break and exceed 30c in summer–let alone in spring and autumn, too. Good lord, our heatwave here in the UK has only been off and on for a few weeks, not often topping 30c, but the humidity is so unbearable that the idea of setting my hair in pincurls for a nice curly brush out is nuts. This month it’s been all about getting as much hair off my neck as possible, despite the fact that I’m not crazy about many updos on myself in general, so it’s been clip-in ponytails and neat buns to the rescue! Do any of you hot-weather pinup babes have good tips for cute vintage hair that doesn’t leave you feeling damp necked and pink faced?
The heat aside, it’s been a busy month, with the season of summer birthdays officially beginning. Most of my family have their birthdays over the next 3 months, so it’ll be a fun whirlwind of celebrations starting now.
May is always a great month; it encapsulates my birthday, which I really do drag out for the entire month. But even that aside, it’s been sunny, I’ve been able to spend a lot of lovely time with friends and family, and even though I’m generally not bothered either way by the Royals, I must admit I ended up being swept away by with the excitement surrounding the big wedding, and rather touched by it. Now we’re looking forward to June, which begins the string of summer birthdays among my loved ones that always makes for lots of laughs and fun. If the weather could settle on being sunny but as a mild 18c with a gentle breeze, that would set us up for perfection!
April, you glorious bastard! After so much rain it felt like spring might never come, but near the end there you skipped right to summer with our mini heat wave. Always a surprise, mostly a pleasure, always weird. I mean, obviously it then went right back to April showers, but having sun wake up all the blossoms finally has truly made my month. And now onto May, my birthday month! Bring it.
March, you dizzying blur of a month! Man, I can’t believe how fast it went. It had some real highs and some lows, from the disappointment of some truly awesome plans being cancelled and getting a sickness bug over the much anticipated long Easter weekend, to the joys of being reunited with my Deadly is the Female friends for a catch up and a spot of modelling. And now, April, in which I intend to catch up on all the chocolate I missed out on over Easter and looking forward to my birthday in early May.
That’s it, the first month of 2017 done! Everyone keeps saying how long it dragged on for but I feel like it rushed by. I had a bit of a motivational slump coming out of Christmas, but I’m excited for a productive month ahead in February and already a bit eager to leave behind the winter weather for spring dresses and bare legs…not that spring, or even summer, guarantees the latter in England. Did you have a good January?
