No outfit is easier to create than one begun with a wrap dress. And a soft, stretchy floral wrap dress with flutter sleeves? Why, that’s just a summer time prayer answered all in one.
Wax Poetic Clothing is a small business, created and run by a husband and wife duo who design and make their pieces with love in the USA. It’s been wonderful this past year to see their popularity explode with the release of some of their most fabulous pieces to date, like their range of sheer fabric Lydia wrap dresses, full length gowns that ooze Old Hollywood glamour (as well as Lounging Wealthy Widow energy.) This Aurora wrap dress is one of their staple dress cuts that has been released in several different floral fabrics, and this Rose Cream version is just darling.
The Aurora is a true wrap dress, so it offers all the usual benefits that wrap dresses offer; it’s a simple, easy to throw on piece that looks put together and timeless immediately, it flatters every body shape, and it’s stretchy and comfortable to wear. Additionally the flutter sleeves are romantic and flattering, a comfort for those of us who are self-conscious about our upper arms and fed up of sweating in the cardigans we can’t bear to bypass even in hot weather. These sleeves are a thankful reprieve, perfectly airy during those humid summer days that are typically a torment.
The pink rose floral print is just lovely, gentle and sweet without being twee. The pinks range from a blush petal to a deep dusky almost-mauve, framed by the sage and olive toned leaves, all atop a cream background. The fabric is a super soft and slinky lightweight rayon spandex knit, which offers so much stretch that I can guarantee there is no way it won’t serve you in full comfort through a whole day of wear. The wrap over layer is generous, so there won’t be any accidental thigh flashing.
Wax Poetic’s size chart puts me in a 2XL in their dresses but they assured me the XL would work for me in the Aurora thanks to the ample stretch in the material and they were spot on. If you’re unsure of sizing, feel free to shoot them a message, but generally they recommend sizing down for a snug fit in the Aurora and I can confirm that worked perfectly for me. It’s hard to measure wrap dresses for specifics, as they offer such a range in their minimum and maximum sizing, but the waistline across the back panel of this dress measures 17 inches flat with several inches of stretch. Given that, I think one could reasonably say this XL could work for 34 to 40 inch waists, while the bust accommodated my 46 inch bust without any gaping or excessive cleavage on display. The flutter sleeves obviously bypass the possibility of sleeves being too tight, and are long enough to cover the full upper arm. Overall, it’s a great piece that will
