Party Dress Season: Queen of Heartz

The Brenda dress by Queen of Heartz is one of their staple dresses they’ve made in multiple colourways over the seasons. Their Ivory sateen colourway immediately struck me as a beautifully simple and classic option for a vintage style wedding dress, particularly for ladies who are on a budget. It would also be a lovely White Christmas option for a party dress, and it was with that in mind that I shot this dress as part of this party dress series, sticking with the white and only adding silver in my accessories like this outfit was all frost and snow.

Made in the USA of cotton sateen, this dress has a soft sheen to it that gives it just enough of a formal feel to make a perfect winter party dress. The scalloped shape of the neckline is feminine but subtle, and the wide waistband is designed to cinch you in. The full gathered circle skirt is simply amazing. With so much swish and swing, it easily encompasses even two fluffy petticoats, which makes me immensely happy. It closes with a back zipper,

I chose an XL thinking it would be a tight fit as I’m around 33/34 in the waist currently and the QoH XL is listed for 32 inch waists, however the Brenda was actually sized pretty generously. Stretch sateen like this has some give in it and this XL dress measures 16.5 inches flat (33 around) and stretched out flat to 19 inches (taking it up to 38 possible in the waist,) so while the XL is made for 32 inch waists I think you can size down if you like a snug fit. It’s a bit loose on me and also sits a bit long on me in the waist, measuring 17 inches from the top of the shoulder to the waistband, so you might need to bear that in mind if you’re short in the waist.

It’s a really comfortable dress and I’m so in love with the length and fullness of the skirt, which just has so much fabric in it. I think the great thing about this dress is it’s simplicity: it’s so easy to dress it up as well as dress it down. In addition to this being a stunning bridal option, I can so easily see myself throwing this dress on in summer with flats and a pair of cat eye sunglasses for chic and elegant easy wear, so it’s a dress that has decent re-wear value.

The Brenda dress by Queen of Heartz costs $120 and is available in sizes that range from 24.5 to 47 inch waists, in 5 different colours, and can be shipped internationally.
