Party Dress Season: Heart of Haute

I’ve featured Heart of Haute before reviewing their Milan dress and Diva skirt suit. The Beverly dress is one of their classic designs they often release in new prints, totaling up to 15 available colourways at my last count. Their new colourways have been quick to sell out this season, with their red matrix flying out the doors, so I was lucky to get my hands on their Metro Silver to review as part of this party dress series.

The Beverly dress is a more conservative option for ladies concerned with bust lines but that doesn’t detract from its glamour or prettiness. The neckline is wide and scooped, displaying the delicacy of the collarbone offset with a bow detail on the left-hand side. It’s fitted through the waist with princess seams leading into a full skirt, which is approximately 25 inches long and ends just below the knee on me, at my height of 5 ft 7. It closes with a back zipper and is 100% cotton.

The silver threaded through the fabric of this dress is gorgeous and catches the light so well, perfect for this time of year whether you want to be a twinkly snow princess or whether you want to catch the light to stand out at your office party. It’s comfortable, has a tie in back to pull the waist in a little more, and the slightly shorter length compared to some retro style dresses means it’s great for petite ladies or for those who don’t like a tea length dress.

Sizing. In my HoH Milan dress I wear an L but in my Diva skirt suit I sized up into XL and find it perfectly fitted in some places and a little roomy in others. Bearing that and the size chart in mind, the HoH team suggested the XL for my currently 34 inch waist as there’s some stretch in this piece but not tons.  Since receiving it I’ve taken the flat measurements for you to compare to the size chart. The XL on the size chart allows for 39-42 bust, 32-33 waist and a free hip. I flat measured this dress as 17inches across the waist (making 34 inches circumference) and managed to flat measure it stretched to 18 inches (36 inches.) It’s a perfect fit on me, even though the size chart would suggest I should possibly size up into the 1X, so bear in mind how you like your dresses to fit you if you’re in between sizes.

The Beverly dress in Metro Silver costs $104 and is available in sizes S to 3X, as well as being available in over a dozen other prints if this frosty silver blue isn’t for you. Heart of Haute ship internationally so get your order in quick if you want this pretty in time for Christmas!
