I’ve wanted a white summer swing dress for years. I’ve got close a few times with a mostly white dress, or a white dress that is fancy but not really summery. In my heart, I wanted a swing style made from broderie anglaise. If it had sleeves of some description, preferably not capped? All the better. Well, finally, I found it! Let’s take a look at Louis Louis among the bluebells.

Ukulele Summer [Hell Bunny]
It’s that time of year when the sun is playing coy with us here in the UK; bright one day, snowing the next (no, literally, today it’s snowing up north, but yesterday we had a lovely sunny day here down south.) So when there’s a chance to throw on a summery dress, boy does it feel glorious. And it doesn’t get much more summery than this tropical little Hell Bunny number.
Vacation Sensation [Vixen by Micheline Pitt]
I’ve wanted to try Vixen’s Vacation dress since it was first released but I made a conscious decision last year to scale back the amount of clothing I buy, and as such I hadn’t yet been able to justify the purchase.
I don’t enter competitions to win freebies on social media because I don’t think that would be fair given that I get gifted items regularly to review here on the blog. However my friend Kat entered Vixen’s Thanksgiving Tag a BFF Instagram contest and because I was the friend she tagged we both won a $100 vixen gift voucher. Vixen then launched their 20% off Black Friday sale, and suddenly I could snap up a Vacation dress guilt-free! Obviously I’ll go into the real details below, but the short verdict? It’s as great as everyone says it is!
The Perfect Peasant Dress [Doll Me Up]
We all have things we like. You might like bodycon dresses, the colour black, cut outs. Your best friend may be in to watermelons, swing skirts, and novelty shaped buttons. I like all shades of yellow, dresses with lots of stretch, and peasant-style necklines. And, like anyone else, I get a bit excited when I find several of my favourite things represented in one item. In this instance, I have Doll Me Up to thank for this accumulation of Things That Make Amy Happy.
Just Like Marilyn [Blueberry Hill Fashions]
For the longest time I have wanted a dress like the one famously worn by Marilyn in this picture.
There have been times when I’ve found reproductions of it but for one reason or another it’s always been impossible for me to get my hands on one. Some times the company didn’t offer them in plus sizes, other times the reproductions was simply too expensive for my budget. So imagine my delight when I was scrolling through Instagram one day and came across this picture of gorgeous Ashlyn Coco, one half of fabulous blogging duo The Pink Collar Life, sporting just such a dress.
