Backpack, But Make it Vintage [Ecosusi]

Last Year Ecosusi kindly gifted me one of their Cambridge backpacks, a bag that can be used as either a backpack or a shoulder bag depending upon where you attached the strap(s), or can even carried as a briefcase sans straps. It was the first time I’d ever seen a bag that had been designed with such versatility in mind and I absolutely adore that aspect of it, especially since it was a lovely tan brown colour which pairs beautifully with half of my wardrobe. I decided I wanted the same bag in black (to achieve the perfect match to the other half of my wardrobe) so I checked to see if they made it in other colours. Sadly they didn’t, but during my search I discovered this maroon laptop bag, a near perfect match to one of my favourite pairs of boots—and if you know me, you know I love to get matchy-matchy. Considering they had a Halloween sale on at the time, it didn’t take long for me to transfer my ‘I need a black backpack’ wish to this bag instead. And lo and behold, I love it as much as my first Ecosusi bag! (Will I still be checking out Ecosusi in future to see if they ever make the kind of black satchel backpack I want? Of course!)

Handy Little Ivy [Hotter]

When it comes to handbags, I’m a mostly practical woman. As much as I adore sporting chic little box bags or impossibly small oddly shaped clutches for dinners out socialising, on a day-to-day basis I don’t want to have to edit down my payment cards, ID and assorted change into a tiny coin purse in order to be able to fit the necessities into a pretty bag that will elevate my outfit. Realistically, I’d much rather find a lovely bag that fits my actual, whole purse, because that is what adulthood requires. Thankfully, adulthood doesn’t also require that one’s sensible day bag be boring, because this little Ivy number certainly isn’t that.

On It, Bonnit!

Just sullenly thinking about how much I hate it when my hair gets ruined…

One of the most annoying things about being a modern day pinup has got to be how easy it is for our carefully coiffed vintage hairstyles to get ruined. Whether it’s a long day at the office, a gust of unruly wind, unwanted humidity or a dreaded downpour that makes your pincurls drop, the result is the same: a burst of frustration and disappointment, followed by the agonising decision for those of us less-gifted with our locks as to whether it’s better to leave our slightly sad hair as is or risk restyling it while out and about–and probably making the situation worse. Whenever I attempt and fail at the latter I always wish I’d been better prepared, rarely organised enough to remember to pack both a hairscarf and an umbrella, or perhaps simply to move those items over from one handbag to the one in use that better matched that day’s ensemble.
