I love black watch tartan. I’ve wanted a dress or full circle skirt in that colour of tartan for ages, but each time I find one it’s always out of stock. So imagine my delight when I found the Hell Bunny Aberdeen dress in just that print.
Dress: Dublin Print Aberdeen dress by Hell Bunny
Flats: Old season H&M
All photography by Sarah Forshaw
This dress has a sweetheart neckline, capped sleeves, a full circle skirt and closes with a back zipper. It’s a medium weight fabric, so it’s more winter-appropriate than a summer piece. In these photos I only wore one slim petticoat but it takes a voluminous petticoat beautifully and would allow for petticoat layering, which makes me happy.
Hell Bunny typically size quite generously. I got this dress in the L, what HB states to be their UK 14 equivalent, for 32 inch waists. However laid flat it measures 33.5 inches in the waist and stretched it measures 34inches, so there’s a little stretch in it making it more equivalent to a UK 16 by typical standards. Bear that in mind when ordering.
It’s a comfortable dress and feels perfectly toned for autumn/winter wear. If you’re more a fan of white and red tartan prints then you’ll be glad to know it comes available in red/white Stewart tartan in addition to this black/green Dublin tartan.
Hell Bunny are strictly wholesalers but they have tons of global stockists so with a bit of searching you should be able to find a stockist in your country carrying this piece. Additionally, you can often find multiple eBay sellers who stock this piece as well, typically for around £49.99 delivered.
A really lovely design and shape on you, and you look like you are having such fun in the shoot! Kx

I’ve wanted this tartan for ages but none of the Australian stockists have my size – sad face! Looks great on you, though!

In these pictures I’m just wearing a cheap 25″ petticoat off eBay from Hong Kong or somewhere similar. It cost no more than £10. If you go on eBay and search for petticoats at that length then narrow the price results down to £10/$15 you should find tons of results for the same stock being sold by dozens of international sellers. They’re never too puffy, a nice middle ground, and can be stacked together to create more fluff in future if you do decide you like more volume.

Thanks miss any may, I never know with petticoats.
Seeing as I need one quick for Christmas Day would you think the Lindy bop ones would do the job? Always a little sceptical of there quality but they would possibly be the same as ordering from eBay.
I just know that there post is pretty quick, what do you think, think it would do the job ?

If you don’t like much volume I would recommend lindybop petticoats–some of them are really voluminous and those ones that are so full are also really scratchy. A petticoat that doesn’t have a lot of volume is a tough ask, since that’s their main job, and getting one quickly this time of year makes it harder because my one suggestion for ones of more subtle volume are the cheap eBay ones. Sorry about that.

Mmm sizes are confusing online. The measurements you describe are just what I need i.e. L but a worn once one has come up size XL which also claims to be measurements of your L! 🤦🏻♀️ Whether to risk it?!
Looks great on you BTW and great to find vintage style UK bloggers who are similar size! I’m @jly_vintage_glamour on Instagram
