Sweet Magnolia [Hell Bunny]

I rarely wear floaty dresses, so fond am I of a full skirt and a cinched waist. This Magnolia dress, however, is just too lovely to deny, so I think it’s time to float away with it.

There are aspects of this dress that, on paper, I might consider contradictory. The silver metallic thread that runs through it and the sweet, frilled detail of the sleeve cuffs perhaps sound in opposition to the moody colour palette of its floral print. In reality the softer, sweeter details that would be just as at home on a brighter and more summery dress actually elevate this elegantly gloomy number. The shiny black decorative buttons on the bodice echo the sparkle of the silver lurex threading, and the sheer chiffon fabric give the bruised colours of the flowers an ethereal, dreamlike quality. Altogether these details create a dark yet charming dress that feels quite special.

The bodice and skirt are both lined, so you don’t have to sacrifice any modesty for the style points of sporting a sheer fabric. This dress would work excellently as a tea dress for someone who just usually isn’t into tea dresses, which is something I love about it. Throw on a cardigan over it to keep warm in winter, or get creative as I have done by thinking about capes, stoles or even a leather jacket. If you love this fabric but don’t feel drawn to this dress, there’s also a Magnolia Blouse.

I’m wearing this in my standard Hell Bunny 2XL/18. The waist is 39 inches flat with a little give, while the bust has room for 44-48 inch busts. The elastic cuffs have generous stretch, so the short sleeves are fully comfortable even on my large upper arms, a small miracle that other folks with chubby uppers will truly understand. The pleated skirt is 26 inches long. The dress closes with a hidden back zip.

The Magnolia dress comes in sizes XS-4X. Discount code Amymay20!% will get you 20% off all orders from hellbunny.com, including sale, and can be used as many times as you’d like. Hell Bunny ship worldwide, and have stockists all over the globe.
