Perrie on the Daily [Lindy Bop]

As much as I love a wonderfully glam dress, these days I think it excites me more to find a dress that can be worn both truly casually, in all the modern ways that that means to me, right through to a vintage inspired look that can morph with the season and my mood. The Perrie shirtdress by Lindy Bop can do both of those things with ease, and in this navy colourway it’s ready to be rocked year round.

Herons and Pussybows [Hell Bunny]

One item of clothing I’ve come to love that I would not have believed I would ever even wear, were you to have told me this many years ago, is the pussybow blouse. Even ignoring that my previously-modern wardrobe just would not have had space for such a blouse to fit, sartorially speaking, it’s likely I just would not have believed they would ever suit me. I probably would have thought they were too delicate, too sweet, too girly for me, but back then I simply would have lacked the fashionable imagination to know that, like almost everything else, pussybow blouses are all about how you style them. For me, they work perfectly for layering, especially as a fun neckline feature under pinafore dresses or cardigans. This Heron blouse, though, offers plenty all on its own to be considered the feature piece in an outfit even without layering.

Luxe Daily in Lacey [Collectif]

The idea of the Little Black Dress is, I feel, often imaged in the shape of something slinky, well-fitted, possibly even involving glitter. For me, a LBD that will be reached for time and again is definitely a swing dress, something classic and timeless, even somewhat subdued by some people’s standards but easy to style into a knockout look for times I want to shine. The Lacey dress by Collectif more than fits the bill.

Ready For Oktober [Hell Bunny]

Spring is my favourite season, but autumn is a close second behind it, entirely for its colours. When the trees are in different stages of decline, awarding the sight of red, yellow, orange, near-gold and green all mixed together side-by-side over the hedges of my garden, along the roads that lead me everywhere I go, my heart is made happy. So realising that very sight is epitomised into the tartan of this Hell Bunny Oktober dress–well, my heart was more than a little pleased.

Infinity Dreams [Belbeina Lee]

For a vintage-clothing loving girl, I’m actually woefully ignorant of, well, many aspects of vintage clothing. I don’t know the correct terms for most of the design features of the clothing I so greatly admire from past eras, let alone details of fabric type or authenticity when it comes to inspecting possible true vintage pieces. That means sometimes when I’m watching a period film or TV series I can spot a dress style or accessory piece I desperately covet but I can’t figure out what to search for online to even begin the process of tracking down a repro version I can purchase myself. Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Pink Collection

My favourite lipstick is the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink liquid lipstick, so much so that I own all of the colours that could conceivably work for me (which is 18 of them) and buy back-ups of my favourites every time I can’t decide on a third item to buy when I’m shopping Superdrug’s 3 for 2 deal. While doing exactly that this past weekend, I noticed what looked to be 4 new colours; 140 Soloist, 145 Front Runner, 150 Pathfinder and 155 Savant. I quickly googled to see if I had somehow missed a new release and could find no information on these shades. I immediately put in an order and when they arrived I quickly snapped pictures to share with you. Continue reading

Sophistication in Romane-Bo [Miss Candyfloss]

It’s that beautiful time of year again. Yes, I do sort of mean autumn, but mostly I actually mean it’s time for Miss Candyfloss to start releasing their Autumn/Winter line. Miss C release such superb winter collections that I genuinely get excited in mid summer just anticipating what each year’s newest seasonal offerings might be. They can always be relied upon to produce chic, timeless, sophisticated designs, which cover every occasion from dinner party glamour to office-friendly. They are, in short, my favourite company for cool weather wear, and this year’s Marilyn Monroe inspired collections have once more surpassed my high expectations.

The Perfect Chilly Duo [Collectif + Lulu Hun]

Look, I know here in the UK we’re currently experiencing a heatwave–again–which might make it seem like this autumn-themed post is a poor idea, but I posit the opposite. Picture this; chilly mornings with a slight crunch to the grass, the browning of the trees, the here-again-wonder of that first time you can see your breath when you exhale out of doors, the first time in so long that you’re reminded of your childhood belief that perhaps, just perhaps, you might be a dragon. Acorns. Chestnuts. Rain.

Now, don’t you feel just a bit cooler? No? Okay well at the very least maybe we can agree on wistful? Because that’s what I’m feeling right now, as I pick uncomfortably at the seams of the lightest dress I own which still isn’t quite cool enough. I want autumn and I want it ASAP, not just because I’m fed up of summer but because I want to get back to wearing outfits like this.
