Outfits September 2021 to May 2022

Miss Amy May outfits

Remember when I used to round up my outfits on a monthly basis, because I had an actual social life for which to get dressed up? Sigh. Those were the good ol’ days. I know most people are back to ‘normal’ now, despite the delays and disruptions caused by people getting Covid, Long Covid, and often Covid for a second or third time, but I’m one of those people who hasn’t had it yet, and has immunocompromised loved-ones to boot, so for the most part my social life still doesn’t…really exist? February Outfits Round Up

I know it probably won’t be lasting for long, but the end of this month has really felt suspiciously like…spring?? I know, I know, soon we’ll probably get spring showers and then it will feel much like winter all over again, but it’s been nice to see the sun shining and for it to be that little bit warmer. Like the beginning of the month though, I think I’ll continue wearing my plaids and moodier pieces until spring is here in earnest, because why waste a good excuse to rock tartan?

November Outfits Round Up

YOU GUYS, CHRISTMAS IS COMING! I’m aware not everyone celebrates that holiday, nor even that everyone even likes it, but I start thinking about Christmas in about mid October, at the latest, and I only have 3 gifts left to buy, so I’m already feeling pretty tingly with the festive spirit. As such, it’s taken a real effort of restraint not to start incorporating that feeling into my outfits this month, but I managed to resist and instead focused on the fact that it still feels a lot like the height of autumn thanks to the autumn leaves that are still holding strong out there–isn’t the autumn colour normally done by now?? It feels so weird to still have plenty of trees left to change their leaves, let alone lose them.

Still, for now I’ll try to keep my humming of Christmas songs quiet enough that most people can’t hear them, while I mentally begin to plan all my December outfits for maximum festivity!

October Outfits Round Up

October was kind of a quiet month, I feel like my friends spent a lot of it being sick or busy so it both dragged and rushed by with the decrease of usual socialising. But the leaves are turning and it’s getting a bit crisp out without being too cold yet, so I’m loving the true arrival of Autumn. Plus, judge me if you must, but I’m already starting to feel festive! So bring it on, November, I’m ready to celebrate the birthdays of some of my favourites and then begin my Christmas gift shopping!

January Outfits Round Up

I’m not gonna lie, 2017 started off rough. There were some family health scares and accidents that, coupled with an insane workload throughout the whole month in my department at work, really left me feeling low on energy and not much in the mood to dress up some days. I think sometimes since vintage dressing is such a time-consuming and energy-intensive style that ladies can look at pinups who wear this style every day, or at least regularly, and think ‘Wow, they’re flawless and they seem to find it so easy! I don’t think I can do that,’ then get put off the idea of dabbling with the style.

So in the interest of full disclosure, I want any of you lovelies who sometimes feel that way, or who feel discouraged in general by the seemingly perfect pinup lives so easily presented on social media, to know that that perfection or ease or even excitement isn’t necessarily the full truth. While typically getting dolled up gives me energy and positive feelings, this month I’ve just been too low on energy to enjoy it in the same way. Normally wearing jeans and a hoody in public makes me feel weirdly both exposed and invisible, but this month it’s often what I’ve felt I’ve needed simply because I just couldn’t be bothered to care about my appearance so much. And there’s nothing wrong with that, whether that’s a temporary or a permanent status for anyone, but I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone that you can wear what you want, when you want, and it doesn’t mean anything other than ‘this is the outfit that I wanted to wear today.’ You do you, boo.

Saying that, I got my 50% off Collectif order through this month, holla, and that injected a little more excitement back into my wardrobeI have a week off work in February and I’m hoping to fill it with some fun activities and much procrastinated productivity, so here’s hoping next month leaves me feeling revitalised and ready to get my pinup on with my usual enthusiasm.

Happy New Year to you, if I haven’t said it already; I hope January has treated you kindly and that you feel hopeful and happy wherever you are. And now, on to the clothes!

September Outfits Round Up

September messed with us all here in England. It kept being (quote unquote) hot again. Which is fine–given we generally have crap summers you’d think we would be excited to have some surprisingly warm stretches in the first month of autumn. Sort of, but not really. Because I’m so ready to dig out my autumn wardrobe, as well as wear the new additions to it I’ve been buying the last few weeks, and so far there has rarely been the chance. My tartan, tweeds and plaids have gone unloved, my checks and flannels have been sadly unattended to. My summer clothes are pretty, but damnit I just want to wear the fall stuff.

So let’s be more sensible, October, shall we? You don’t have to rain or even get dreary (in fact, it would be kind of convenient for my blogging needs if you didn’t,) but a bit of a chill would be seasonally wonderful, if you would do me the honour. Okay? Okay. Just think about it, is all I’m asking. In the mean time, here’s the frustrated and temperature-confused collection of outfits I put together in September.

February Outfits Round Up

For the shortest month, February really didn’t feel all that short. I definitely felt like I had lost inspiration for getting dressed in a lot of cases because I’m just fed up of all the rain we’ve been having here in England, constantly messing up my hair and making my yearning for tropical prints look out of place. I’m looking forward to March with high hopes that it might finally bring us some sunshine, because if not the next monthly wrap up might just include a lot of me looking annoyed in sweat pants and hoodies staring out of rain-splattered window panes. You’ve been (only half jokingly) warned!

January Outfits Round Up

It’s been a busy month, catching up with friends after the Christmas break and enjoying a weekend with one of my London friends, Giselle, coming down to stay. And, of course, there was Jenny January, the style challenge event I host in January on social media revolving around the Pinup Girl Clothing Jenny skirts and dresses. If you wanted to read about that event in particular you can find my blog post about it here, but if not you’ll find all my outfits represented below.

December Outfits Round Up

‘Tis the season to be jolly and twinkly and glam! I love Christmas time, even though it’s busy and over far too quickly. Seeing friends and family as much as possible and spoiling them with gifts and joy warms my heart, and I’ll be honest, picking out my outfits for wearing over the Christmas period is one of my favourite parts now. It’s been an incredibly busy month though and I didn’t get to wear as many pretties as I expected. but hey ho, the perfect excuse to start 2016 off with a bang!

November Outfits Round Up

November has been a strange month. The first 6 days of it made up the end of my American trip, the following week an adjustment period of jetlag and playing catch up which saw my motivation to dress prettily bottom out, and then a frantic two week period of busyness and prep as birthdays, blog work and the approaching festive season blended together to make a perfect storm of overwhelming ‘what next, what next?’ feels.

As usual, you can find links in the description to any item that is still available to buy. Anything not linked is from a past season and cannot be found for purchase any longer and/or is not available to buy online.
