Lynette’s an Animal! [Timeless London]

Back in my pre-pinup days I wore short skirts, had a large mane of small natural curls, and hated leopard print. Even for many years after adopting vintage fashion I hated leopard print, actually, which makes it even weirder that my first ever vintage-inspired dress which convinced me I could adopt this style for real was fully red leopard print. It had a sweetheart neckline, black straps, a full circle skirt, and I was madly in love with it. It was a very tight fit at the time and I gained back some weight shortly after I wore it to a friend’s charity event, so I never managed to squeeze into it again, but I kept it for a long time out of love before I finally sold it on so someone else could love it instead.

Over the course of the following few years my opinion on leopard print evolved to a much broader love and now it’s one of my favourite prints (when done right…some of my boundaries remain.) But I still have a special fondness for red leopard print in particular, because it feels so tied to a key turning point in my life. So this Lynette dress, to me, is like wearing a lovely reminiscence…

Yes to Tess [Dolly & Dotty]

One of the things I most love in clothing is when designers play with textures. Layering different materials to achieve a multi-textured effect is pretty easy to do with your styling choices, but when a dress already offers something texturally interesting you’re already halfway there. And this Tess dress definitely offers!

Revlon Colorstay Satin Ink Lipstick Review + Swatches

I love liquid lipsticks, so I can never resist trying a new release from drugstore brands just in case they are somehow better or on par with my absolute favourite lipstick, the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink. Recently I saw a couple of beauty influencers trying this new ColorStay Satin Ink liquid lip by Revlon over on Instagram, so of course I immediately hopped online and bought the 2 shades that seemed to most reflect my usual colour preferences.

The shade range for this lipstick is quite small, at least here in the UK, with just 6 shades available. Judging by the online photos and the colour of the packaging, I thought On a Mission was going to be a rich red and Silky Sienna was going to be a warm pink. Both shades are not accurately reflected by their packaging, which does not display a clear window looking into the formula itself but instead opaque plastic coloured inserts that Revlon have chosen to (inaccurately, in my opinion) reflect the shades. You can see this yourself with my picture above showing On A Mission on my lips and it’s packaging displayed in my hand. Still, that issue aside, I was excited to try the lipstick. Let’s look at how it performs. Continue reading

Outfits Feb to July 2021, Because Covid Never Ends

When I last did one of these bulk outfit round ups it covered the second half of last year through to this January. At the time I knew it wouldn’t be my last bulk round up before my social life returned to normal, which is what would be required in order for me to return to my usual monthly round ups of days past. Did I think I would leave it another 6 months before I did another one of these posts, though? In all honesty I don’t think I even thought far enough ahead to ponder that. My priority has been and remains the safety and health of my loved ones and myself, and though I read enough articles and expert opinions last March to glean that this pandemic was likely going to be a 1-2 year thing, at least, I think I still hit a big wall coming out of winter this year. Polly, Polly, Polly [Dolly & Dotty]

I think if I had to choose a favourite gingham colour I would have to–after much lip chewing and frowning–choose yellow. A yellow gingham just feels so undeniably happy to me, all sunshine and bright smiles in a way that immediately summons good vibes and great memories. And would you look at that, today we’re going full on yellow gingham.

Hot Little Halter [Dolly & Dotty]

We’ve had another heatwave here in the U.K. and while I enjoy the brighter days, the heat and humidity definitely kick my butt. Nothing I can wear practically for work comes close to keeping me cool and comfortable, so it’s a relief when I can get home, take a chilly shower and change into one of my summer dresses. Anything made of a light cotton instantly eases my discomfort, so this check halter number is a true relief.

Little Gingham Annie [Dolly & Dotty]

The Annie dress is one of Dolly & Dotty’s staple dress cuts, released each season in a variety of new prints and patterns. Whether you love florals, embroidered designs, quirky patterns, winter checks, or even lace, there’s an Annie (or several!) for you. I own a handful already, and they’re always easy to throw on to quickly create a great outfit around. My newest Annie is this little gingham number, so you know I’m in my very best summertime picnic feels! Let’s go walk barefoot through the meadow together, shall we?
