With the sun making more regular appearances, it finally feels like the time to make the switch from my autumn/winter wardrobe to my spring/summer pieces. Into storage go my tartans, checks and velvets, and out come the florals, brights and ginghams. This Dominique number will gladly join them, as one of those rare specimens of which I have very few in my closet–an unmistakable summer dress in pure neutral tones.

Don’t Cry, Baby [Hell Bunny]
Me, the last few weeks: Omg I’m so excited it’s spring 😀 😀 😀
Spring, on the 2nd of April, in the South East of England: It’s 1°C, ice on car windshields, tried to snow the last couple days.
Me, waking up to that nonsense ready to take these summer dress pictures: Shocked Pikachu meme
A Memory of Autumn [Hell Bunny]
I’m not an orange lover by any means, but a rich rust shade absolutely proves my exception to that rule. If anything, burnt apricot tones are some of my very favourite of all colours, and certainly some of the tones I most look forward to in autumn. Whether it’s on my person or on the trees (and thus, eventually, the ground,) the cinnamon tones of fall is probably the single thing that brings me the most joy in that season. As such, it can be no great surprise that I fell in love with this Tawny dress by Hell Bunny the moment I clapped eyes on it. It may be dreary and wintery outside now, but let’s fall back into autumn with Tawny.
Blake in Black & White [Hell Bunny]
I love a houndstooth print. I generally think they are widely underused and under appreciated, so I was pleased to see Hell Bunny release this Blake dress this season, with a bold oversized houndstooth pattern that can’t be ignored.
Juno Beetlejuice? [Hell Bunny]
I’m always honest here on the blog, there would be no point in offering you size and fit reviews if I wasn’t, but I’m about to be honest in a way that’s probably going to upset some of you: I don’t like Halloween. I actually kind of…hate it. Yeah, I know. But spiders? Hate them. Bats? Sure, I get that they are kinda like cute winged puppies in stasis, but in motion I would not want one of those suckers flying anywhere near my person and my easily-tangled hair. Pumpkins? I think the only acceptable shade of orange is rust, otherwise it’s ugly AF, so a tasteless bumpy vegetable that is glaringly orange obviously will not win me over. Spooky things? Nah, I don’t like being scared or anything close to it; I think people who enjoy being spooked must have evolved from the hunters of our species. My over-cautious, risk-adverse brain, contrarily, definitely evolved from a long line of quiet clan members who volunteered during each hunt to stay in the cave to count out what remains of the firewood stack.
Halloween is not for me and it’s aesthetic kind of grates on my visual nerves. Sorry not sorry. Big time shrug emoji, y’all.
Why is this relevant, I hear many of you mumbling to yourselves through gritted teeth and memeified clenched Arthur fists? Your slimy green blood is boiling, you’re trying hard resist the urge to smash your new ‘ghoulfriends’ mug on the floor in slighted rage. Well, it’s relevant because I know for many of you this dress is automatically a hALloWeEn dReSs, and because it is very Beetlejuice I must concede the fact that, yes, it really is a very good Halloween dress. But it is also just a black and white dress, and that monochromatic style-tabula rasa is something I am much more here for.
Frilly Sundae [Hell Bunny]
Do I start singing Lonely Island’s ‘Lazy Sunday’ to myself every time I see this Frilly Sundae dress by Hell Bunny? Yes, of course I do. Am I embarrassed to admit that? No, of course I’m not. Is it a cute-ass dress? Yes, of course it is, let’s stop messing around with this nonsense and take a look at it!
Ukulele Summer [Hell Bunny]
It’s that time of year when the sun is playing coy with us here in the UK; bright one day, snowing the next (no, literally, today it’s snowing up north, but yesterday we had a lovely sunny day here down south.) So when there’s a chance to throw on a summery dress, boy does it feel glorious. And it doesn’t get much more summery than this tropical little Hell Bunny number.
Spring Chantilly [Hell Bunny]
Y’aaaaall, it’s finally springtime! Well, for us northern hemisphere folks, that is. Spring is always my favourite time of year, but this year it is definitely a figurative and literal breath of fresh air. A balm for lockdown blues, a sunny salve for the seasonally disheartened–just damn lovely, really. As much as I’ve been enjoying my recent downtime of not blogging so much (wow, not being allowed to leave the house really takes it out of you, huh??), it was so nice yesterday to unpack a parcel of new Hell Bunny spring/summer goodies and to dash out into the sun to take some pictures for you. Was it cold as heck, despite the sunny glow in these pictures? Hell yes! Am I thrilled to be sharing with you my first summery dress of the season, with the promise of cautious garden hangouts beckoning on the flowering horizon? YES! Let’s go.
Sweet Magnolia [Hell Bunny]
I rarely wear floaty dresses, so fond am I of a full skirt and a cinched waist. This Magnolia dress, however, is just too lovely to deny, so I think it’s time to float away with it.
Just Like Teen Spirit [Hell Bunny]
If there’s a perfect name for this pinafore–and the plaid it shares with the rest of its jointly named collection–it is certainly the Teen Spirit pinafore. There’s no doubt the bold block plaid is giving me 90s grunge vibes, even as the shaping of the skirt leaves room for vintage styling. We love a hybrid.
