I’m Goin’ To Jackson [Hell Bunny]

You don’t see houndstooth used as regularly in reproduction clothing as you’d expect, for some reason, though I can’t fathom why. It’s a print I love and feel is under-appreciated, so the first moment I saw this Hell Bunny dress at London Edge in September I was smitten. It went immediately onto my ‘When’s this coming out? Must buy, MUST BUY’ list and since then I kept checking any Hell Bunny stockists I could find to see if this dress had been released yet.

Despite that, I very nearly missed out on this dress as my size sold out quickly in many places, but I’m thrilled I managed to snag it. If you love the style of this dress, you’re going to want to scour the interwebs for any available left in your size or else be prepared to act quickly when the second run of stock comes out later in the season. Because I can tell you this, the moment I tried this dress on, it became one of my all time favourites.

Bow-tiful Elle [Voodoo Vixen]

Voodoo Vixen Elle Cardigan Shrug Green

Have you figured out by now that I like green? Rich, emerald green makes me happy. It’s a colour that is surprisingly hard to find in vintage inspired clothing and I can’t at all figure out why. Jewel toned greens look good on pretty much everyone, so you’d expect it to be the kind of colour that is offered widely across all kinds of clothing, dresses and sweaters, skirts and blouses, shrugs and…okay, emerald trousers might be a bit too much for most people, but you get the idea, right? I’m a fan. I’m keen on green. And it frustrates me to no end when I’m putting together an outfit that would pair beautifully with a pop of emerald green, except nowhere can I find what I’m looking for to complete my vision. There are fewer things sadder than the days when the internet search engine fails you. Oh modern life, you make everything so easy yet so dramatic.

But oh ho, what hence! Is that Voodoo Vixen coming to my aide, providing me with green lovelies a plenty this chilly and festive season?

Good Golly, Dolly! [Lulu Hun]

I’ve been meaning to find a perfect pair of navy heels for well over a year now, wearing as much red, white and blue as I do. When I saw this pair of Lulu Hun Dolly High Heels at London Edge in September I knew my search was over! There were plenty of other pretty pairs there that jumped onto my wishlist as well, I can assure you, but these blue beauties were going to have to join the ranks of my shoe racks sooner or later. A cute little Mary Jane style with a killer heel and wipe-clean surface? It was a no brainer.

Keely Does It [Hell Bunny]

The Keely dress is one of the new Hell Bunny pieces that I somehow manged to totally miss when I previewed the line at London Edge this season. I don’t know how, because when I flicked through their complete catalogue online a couple weeks later it was an instant screen-shot, must-have piece. It’s more of a 40s cut than my usual fare, but I was really excited (and only a little bit anxious) about trying it. I needn’t have worried: this dress is amazing.

With a full skirt and a modest but prettily pleated bust, it’s work appropriate, vintage inspired and downright beautiful.

Sparkles and Tartan [Hell Bunny]

Let’s just get it out of the way: Hell Bunny are killing it this season. I previewed their line earlier this autumn at London Edge, noting down several pieces I knew I’d have to get my hands on, but even then I didn’t realise there were plenty of pretties I had somehow overlooked. When I was shown their complete catalogue a couple of weeks later there were suddenly 10 more pieces I wanted to add to my wishlist, no joke.

I loved their Spring/summer line this year, but I think this might be Hell Bunny’s best line yet. Several of my favourite pieces will be coming to the blog over the coming weeks, but in case you can’t wait here’s the online catalogue so you can see the full line in all it’s glory.

The first pieces from the new line that I saw and exclaimed over were the Angette top and the Doralee skirt. Hell Bunny fans will probably recognise this tartan print from last year’s Aberdeen dress, which I own and love in the navy and green Dublin tartan version. Last year, even though I bought the dress version, I still desperately hoped that the print would also be released in a skirt as well, because it just seemed like such a no-brainer winter piece. When I saw my desired skirt versions at London Edge, I was thrilled.

Hanging not too far away from those tartan-tastic skirts were the Angette tops, short sleeved lurex tops in the winter-wonderful shades of red, green and white. The moment I saw them I knew many of you lovely readers would be taken by them: sparkly, cute, and perfect for the upcoming festive season. What wasn’t to like?

This Little Vixen [Vixen by Micheline Pitt]

As a pinup on the internet, you’ve probably encountered Micheline Pitt and/or her work somewhere online. She’s basically the most beautiful jack-of-all-trades that there is; clothing designer, illustrator and artist, model, hair and makeup artist, general badass. Micheline was once described to me as a woman ‘who does the jobs of 10 people’ and anyone who follows her on Instagram is bound to have picked up on that sense of unswerving work ethic.

Earlier this year, Micheline created her own line, Vixen by Micheline Pitt, offering ‘Good things for bad girls.’ She began taking pre-orders on her Etsy and it didn’t take long for wholesalers to sign up to carry her brand new designs. First offering t-shirts, Micheline channeled all the funds she had into setting up her own line of Made in the USA products, soon expanding into lapel pins, pencil skirts, gathered circle skirts, and two vintage inspired shirt styles. Dresses will be coming soon, but the items on offer so far feature cute makeup novelty prints or are available in a small selection of wardrobe-staple plain solid colours. Continue reading →

What A Little Pearl [Voodoo Vixen]

Peter Pan collars aren’t usually my thing–unless they’re on a cardigan, that is. Something about a collared cardigan always strikes me as more polished than a regular round necked cardigan, so this Katy pearl cardigan by Voodoo Vixen won me over the moment I first saw it. Not only does is sport a Peter Pan collar, but said collar is trimmed with delicate faux pearls and finished with an eye catching ivory bow. Ding ding ding! We have a winner.

Feeling like Dita [Voodoo Vixen]

Let’s be real: anything named after vintage goddess Dita Von Teese is going to be a winner.

Voodoo Vixen released their Dita top last season, a work-wear appropriate short sleeved piece featuring a keyhole cutout neckline. Skip forward to their brand new Autumn/Winter season and Dita is back, this time as a dress with longer sleeves perfect for the cooler months.

This dress is a little out of my style-norm, thanks to its slimmer skirt and high neck, but the gorgeous burgundy red really caught my eye and I loved the idea of giving myself the style challenge of creating an outfit around a piece I’m not so familiar with styling. The verdict? I’m so on board.

Splendid Splendette

Splendette Fakelite Handmade Carved bangles AW16

If you pay much attention to my accessories, whether in my blog posts or my daily outfit posts on Instagram, then you’re bound to have noticed a sudden change that occurred early on this summer: I became addicted to Splendette.

In a way, I don’t know how it happened. Well, no, that’s a lie. I do. They produce hand made, beautifully carved, quality pieces that are reasonably priced and can be paired with a plethora of outfits. That was always their selling point. But it was the green that did it. This summer, Splendette released a vibrant new range of solid coloured fakelite bangles in bright new shades, including Chartreuse and Leaf Green.
