Oh August. You were a mixed bag. It was a surprisingly hot month, as far as us Brits are concerned anyway, so there was lots of dressing for comfort and humidity. There was also a bad run of luck on my end specifically, with a broken camera lens and then a severed phone line removing my access to wifi that made taking and uploading outfit photos and blog posts a big challenge. Basically, I am very ready for September and cooler weather. (Bearing in mind, I reserve the right to then complain about how difficult that bad weather might make taking blog photos once it sets in. I know. I’m a complicated woman sometimes. Just go with it.)
Now, let’s say farewell to summer with August’s outfits.

Not many of you will know this, but Mumma May’s name is Rosemary, resulting in my siblings and I often calling her Rosie Posey because she is adorable and so are we (sometimes.) So I was pretty pleased when I discovered that this pastel floral dress from Voodoo Vixen’s new SS line is called 
There are certain styles of vintage dresses that are regularly recreated amongst vintage reproduction clothing companies. One of the most popular of these styles is that of the flared swing dress with the contrast ruched bust. It’s one of the first vintage silhouettes I fell in love with, years ago long before it ever occurred to me that I could begin dressing in that style. I remember seeing a vintage dress featuring this bust style in a movie and thinking it was the most feminine, lovely design I’d ever seen, and yearning for clothes to still be made that beautifully.
