Spring Chantilly [Hell Bunny]

Y’aaaaall, it’s finally springtime! Well, for us northern hemisphere folks, that is. Spring is always my favourite time of year, but this year it is definitely a figurative and literal breath of fresh air. A balm for lockdown blues, a sunny salve for the seasonally disheartened–just damn lovely, really. As much as I’ve been enjoying my recent downtime of not blogging so much (wow, not being allowed to leave the house really takes it out of you, huh??), it was so nice yesterday to unpack a parcel of new Hell Bunny spring/summer goodies and to dash out into the sun to take some pictures for you. Was it cold as heck, despite the sunny glow in these pictures? Hell yes! Am I thrilled to be sharing with you my first summery dress of the season, with the promise of cautious garden hangouts beckoning on the flowering horizon? YES! Let’s go.

Overbust Vs Underbust Corsets [Glamorous Corset]

Corsets are the most dramatic type of shapewear a person can opt for. I personally find them more reliable and comfortable than things like slimming shorts, which always seem to slide or roll down during wear, causing unsightly bumps (whether fabric or flesh) that they were supposed to prevent in the first place. No, with a well made corset you get top tier cinching, more than a dash of sexiness, and some styling fun, should you wish to layer your corset on top of your outfit. But what’s the difference between an overbust and an underbust corset? Let’s take a look!

Outfits June 2020-January 2021, Because Covid

If you’re a regular reader of this blog then you’ll know that pre-pandemic I used to upload a round up of the outfits I had worn each month. After covid-19 hit and the concept of having a social life evaporated, so did those round ups. I work as a warehouse supervisor, so when lockdown went into effect last spring I was furloughed for 3 months. During that time I busied myself with producing blog and social media content, and occasionally got to dress up for video call catch ups with loved ones. I also made an effort to dress up when I went to deliver groceries to my mum and an elderly neighbour, so I still documented those outfits for an April-May round up–there was, surprisingly, enough of them.

In June, though, I was recalled to work and everything was fairly flat-out from then until the New Year in terms of workload and remaining mental capacity. Beyond getting dolled up to safely shoot items for review here on the blog, there were no random days where I had the energy to get dressed up ‘just because I felt like it.’ Instead, I only got pinned up for video call catch ups with loved ones when I was in the mood to do so, Continue reading

Photoshoot Bloopers & Outtakes [Round 13]

Everything is rubbish at the moment, I think we can all agree. So what better time for us all to come together and laugh at me, my stupid face, and some of the dumb shit I’ve done on camera? Indeed. Let us begin!

I mean, sometimes I just lose balance ON A FLAT SURFACE IN FLAT SHOES. What the hell?!

Darla’s A Wrap [Rock’n’Romance Vintage]

If there’s one item that can work in everybody’s closet, it’s a wrap blouse. It’s a staple that will serve vintage lovers and modern dressers alike, looking great worn with swing skirts and pencils as well as over dresses, delightful atop swing trousers or jeans, even cute paired with a mini skirt. A good basic is, after all, a good basic, but this Darla Blouse is just a little bit more special than that.

Little Leopard Trim [Dolly & Dotty]

While I have become quite a leopard print devotee over the past few years, I can still understand how the print might not be the top choice for many folks. Wearing it requires confidence–and a healthy scoop of sass in some instances–but there’s plenty of ways to utilize the print for those who don’t feel totally at home rocking a full leopard print item of clothing. Instead, one could opt for a leopard print statement accessory in a headscarf, handbag. or pair of shoes. Or, simpler still, one could grab this leopard trimmed Cindy dress by Dolly & Dotty, which has the perfect splash of leopard designed for you.

Sweet Suit, Faux Suit [Miss Candyfloss]

One of the things I find myself most coveting about mid-century fashion when I watch content set in that era is the fabulous skirt suit sets. These days if you want to wear a skirt suit you have to find a pencil skirt and matching blazer on the high street, and, let’s face it, the up-down way modern clothing is cut just doesn’t compete with the curves and silhouettes that mid-century designs celebrated. And the idea that you might want a flared skirt as part of your suit set? Forget it, not happening. Well, unless you shop with Miss Candyfloss, who not only create killer jackets and skirts most seasons to fulfill this most ardently loved of style designs, but have also cleverly created several dresses this season that are design to look like suit sets. Check out this beauty!

Just Like Teen Spirit [Hell Bunny]

If there’s a perfect name for this pinafore–and the plaid it shares with the rest of its jointly named collection–it is certainly the Teen Spirit pinafore. There’s no doubt the bold block plaid is giving me 90s grunge vibes, even as the shaping of the skirt leaves room for vintage styling. We love a hybrid.
