Regular readers of this blog know Maybelline’s Super Stay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks are my Holy Grail lip product. Today I’m swatching the Birthday Edition shades. Let’s get to it!
It’s that wonderful time of year–no, not Christmas, new Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink shades! The Spiced Edition boasts 5 new Matte Ink liquid lip shades and 6 new Crayon shades–well, sort of new. Let me explain.
Update 28th Dec 2020: These shades have recently been included in Maybelline’s Spiced Edition release this December, adding 2 additional Crayon shades into that collection and 5 accompanying Matte Ink liquid lip shades (the latter of which you can find the swatches of here.)
Maybelline’s habit this past year of not widely publicizing new shade releases of their Superstay Matte Ink liquid lipsticks and Crayons seems to have continued recently with the sudden appearance of 3 new Crayon shades that I couldn’t find written up or swatched anywhere online. So if you, too, have noticed 95 Talk The Talk, 100 Reach High, and 115 Know No Limits have appeared online or in store at your favourite beauty supplier, let me help you out with some swatches and comparisons to past shades.
Maybelline has followed their stealthy, under-promoted release of new Superstay Matte Ink liquid lipstick shades with a small release of new shades for their Superstay Matte Ink Crayons. This Pink Edition release comprises of 4 new colours, Speak Your Mind, Run the World, Change is Good, and Keep It Fun. I snatched up all 4 recently and have got swatches for you aplenty to help you figure out if any of these new shades are destined for your lipstick collection. Let’s go!
If I was confused by Maybelline’s press silence surrounding their Pink Collection release of new shades of their Superstay Matte Ink lipstick in autumn last year then I’m flummoxed by the fact that they’ve, again, released more shades without any apparent fanfare. This time I couldn’t even find a name for the release; I simply stumbled across the new shades while checking the collection on Superdrug online, as I do every couple months almost absentmindedly, just in case there are new shades, which there usually aren’t. But, lo, there I found 165 Successful, 170 Initiator, 175 Ringleader, 180 Revolutionary and 185 Mover. Let’s get lookin’ and comparin’
